Lucas takes the money and doesn’t run
Manalapan GOP Chairman Steve McEnery told MoreMonmouthMusings that Andrew Lucas has chosen not to seek reelection to the Manalapan Township Committee, citing the demands of raising two young children and of building a new house on the farmland to which he just sold the development rights to the taxpayers for $1.152 million.
Lucas is completing his third three year term on the committee. He was a GOP nominee for freeholder in 2006.
The Manalapan GOP Committee is meeting Saturday morning March 9 to choose the replacement for Committeeman Don Holland who resigned on Monday and an additional candidate to run for Lucas’ seat in the fall. Committeeman Jordan Maskowitz is seeking reelection.
With three seats now open in November, the 5-0 Republican control of the Manalapan Commitee is now at stake in November.
it’s about time- good leadership on the part of their Chairman. A lot of angst and bad blood could have been avoided if there wasn’t so much arrogance, and some who did not pay enough attention.
Its a shame considering he did not actually win the Republican ballot nod that at the Brookdale convention in 2006. A lot of pain (and losses) could have been avoided. That is one of those days that was a farce and came back to haunt us in more ways than one.
But we are witnessing the end of two political careers – Andrew Lucas and Serena DiMaso.
– she is tenacious , smart, willing to work hard, and gets it faster, than many others. Listen to her remarks prior to her vote.. Monmouth also loves Italian candidates, and the fact that she is engaged, present and accounted for, all over the county, says to me that she will do well, running for the second year in a row, for a board that’s doing a decent job, in today’s world.
That is a lovely tribute, and all true but here is every Democrat attack ad when she runs:
“DiMaso voted to give greedy fellow Republican over one million taxpayer dollars for farmland he owned and still owns.”
No one will get passed that. She may be ok this year, but mark my words, this will come back to haunt her.
the Dems will get money this year,to even run attack ads. So far, it appears their party is focused on the legislature and maintaining their majorities this year. I believe her record of service will trump any petty and short-sighted attacks that may come. Granted, some people are like dogs with a piece of meat, and will not/cannot let one “offense” go, but, time will tell.
