Pro-Buono Gopal says he didn’t snub mayors with gubernatorial endorsements

By Art Gallagher

Monmouth County Democratic Charman Vin Gopal took issue with MoreMonmouthMusings’ assertion yesterday that Mayors Jon Hornik, Pat Menna and Matt Doherty were “noticeably absent” from the the Party’s announcement that they were endorsing State Senator Barbara Buono for the Democratic nomination for Governor.

“To suggest that our Mayors at at odds with the Party is not accurate,” said Gopal, ” I did not poll all 200 Democratic elected officials and chairs in Monmouth County to announce this endorsement.  As our announcement made clear, the endorsement was made by the Party Executive Committee, most of the Municipal Chairs and members of our advisory committees.”

Art, you keep writing about this “Vin Gopal” as if he exists in a relevant political way.

He has never won an election, as candidate, chair or bag man.

Mr. Gopal received overwhelming support in his bid to become the County Chair. His past success at fund raising and organizing make him ideal for the position.

Mr. Gopal also owns and opperates several businesses. Maybe its just me, but I kind of like the idea of a County Chair that is not dependent on public money to make a living.

Will not win an election this year either.

Overwhelming support amongst the Democrat hacks in Monmouth County Bob?

    That’s nothing to crow about.

  4. Bob English said at 9:41 pm on January 16th, 2013:

The County is heavily Republican and when the R’s field good candidates its going to be tough sledding for the D’s. (Even Romney won MC while Obama wipped up the floor with him as far as the entire state goes.)

Than again as Mr. Gopal pointed out, the D’s where 8-0 at the local level versus the R’s this past November. Not a bad idea to wait and see who the candidates are in 2013 before either side declares victory.
