Christie will deliver keynote address at GOP convention

Booker still on the Dems back bench

Governor Chris Christie will deliver the keynote address at the Republican National Convention.  The story, first reported by Save Jersey last week, was released to the national media this morning.

Christie told USA Today:

“I’ll try to tell some very direct and hard truths to people in the country  about the trouble that we’re in and the fact that fixing those problems is not  going to be easy for any of them,” Christie told USA Today in an interview  announcing his speech. He said he will describe his experiences in New Jersey as  evidence that “the American people are ready to confront those problems head-on  and endure some sacrifice.”

New Jersey’s other political rock star, Newark Mayor Cory Booker is still in Obama’s doghouse.  Despite the president’s personal assurance to Booker that his “Meet the Press” commentary calling Obama’s anti-Romney ads “nauseating” was “small potatoes,” the mayor will not have a headlining role at the Democratic National Convention.

That’s wonderful. An obese man that rarely sacrifices himself is going to make a speech about the need for shared sacrifice. Perhaps afterwards Charles Manson can lecture us on the importance of obeying the law.

Please give us readers some examples of the many sacrifices that Gov Christie has missed out on. Classic liberal fear response Screwtape, make an insulting comment and then follow that with some generalized, unsupported statement. Sad… genuinely sad.

You need examples, Sal? Haven’t you been paying attention? Let me help you out.

Governor Christie should not take a state-owned helicopter to see his son play a high school baseball game.

That State of New Jersey provides the Governor of New Jersey with an official Governor’s Mansion, Drumthwacket, as well as the Governor’s Official Beach House on LBI. In these tough economic times, why hasn’t the Governor proposed selling one of these homes? (How much free, public housing does the Christie family require?) At the very least, the Governor should “sacrifice” and make the beach house available to some of New Jersey’s less fortunate families. Don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen. Incidentally, the Governor takes that same NJSP helicopter mentioned above to vacation at his state-owned beach house with his family.

When he was the US Attorney, Chris Christie certainly didn’t sacrifice when he stayed at lavish and expensive hotels at the taxpayers’ expense. Why do you suppose that happened, Sal?

Governor Christie has access to the Governor’s Official Luxury Suite at the stadium at the Meadowlands. The Governor claims that he uses this luxury suite and the fully-stocked bar therein to conduct “official entertainment” on behalf of the state. Christie is full of shit. I have Giants season tickets myself. I see the Governor all the time at the stadium. The Governor is in that luxury box virtually every week with his family and friends. He isn’t conducting official entertaining. He and his kids are stuffing their faces on the food and beverages that my tax dollars are paying for. Why doesn’t the Governor “sacrifice” and offer those seats to, say, the families of New Jersey servicemen that were killed or wounded while defending our country? At the very least, why doesn’t the Governor “sacrifice” and reimburse the state the fair-market value of those meals and those seats his family members often enjoy?

Shall I continue, Sal? I’d be more than happy to do just that.

That link that I tried to post above to the Governor’s Twitter page didn’t work the way I had intended. My apologies. Let me try again….

I wonder if the Gov will once again call for Romney to release his tax returns like he did earlier in the year on the Today Show?
