Steinhorn: “I’m waiting for Gopal to step up”
Democratic Monmouth County Clerk candidate Michael Steinhorn told MMM that he has not heard from Vin Gopal, the new Democratic County Chairman, since Tuesday night’s convention. “I’m waiting anxiously for my running mates and I to be summoned so that Mr. Gopal can show us how to win,” said the Rumson Democrat, “I hope he doesn’t wait until two months before election day and then say he really doesn’t have enough time.”
Steinhorn, along with Democratic Freeholder candidates Bill Shea and Kevin Lavan, openly supported Gopal’s opponent, Marlboro Council President Frank LaRocca for Democratic Chairman. “I wish my running mates had staid out of the race, but after they endorsed Frank I felt like I was between LaRocca and a hard place,” Steinhorn quipped, “I didn’t want to split the ticket. I felt to was important that the three of us stay united for fundraising and the campaign.”
When asked if he has spoken to the members of his county slate, Gopal declined to comment.
Who cares? This guy is a boob and will lose no matter who his chairman is.. Having people like this working on his campaign is probably what did LaRocca in.
There is not enough money in Monmouth County to get this guy elected.
Lesson #1 on how to win would be to stop making stupid condescending statements 24 hours after the new County Chair is elected.
I’m waiting for Steinhorn to step down.
Is he trying-out a new fund raising technique by poking at and trying to annoy his new party chairman? Is this a preview of how he, as a mature adult, might behave if elected?
Talk about answering his own question. To bad the rest of the Monmouth Dem team is waiting for Steinhorn, and Shea…and Lavan to step up…
It’s one thing to have your name on a ballot, that makes you a place holder. It’s another thing to BE a candidate.
if he stays in the race, he will lose by thousands, to our very popular county clerk, am certain of that..
This guy wants to win? Apparently being part of the 25 something percent of the loser’s side, you’d think this guy wouldn’t want to kick the 75% majority of the party voters in the teeth with a verbal backhand to their winning candidate. How likely will the 75% be willing to go out and work for this A-hole to get him in November?
