Monmouth Legislators Endorse Christine Hanlon for GOP Chair

The majority of Monmouth County’s legislative delagation has signed a letter endorsing State Committeewoman and Ocean Township Municipal Chair Christine Hanlon in her quest to become the next Chair of the Monmouth County Republcian Committee.

Senators Joe Kyrillos and Jennifer Beck were joined by Assembly Members Amy Handlin, Mary Pat Angelini and Dave Rible in signing the letter that was mailed to county committee members and candidates.

We are writing to you today to endorse State Committeewoman and Ocean Municipal Chairwoman Christine Hanlon as the next Chair of the Monmouth County Republican Party and ask you to vote for her on June 12th.

Christine has been an integral part of our recent Republican successes at every level.  She has served as the Monmouth Coordinator for both the McCain-Palin presidential campaign and the Christie- Guadagno gubernatorial campaign. She has run the last three Monmouth County Republican Victory Galas, and many other fundraising events, raising in excess of $500,000 for the party.  For the past three years, she has assisted the Chairman in the coordination of our county campaigns, and worked with him to develop campaign plans, including strategy and voter targeting, direct mail and our county wide vote by mail program.

Just as importantly, Christine has worked to develop and sustained grassroots network, increased volunteer participation and increased communication from the organization to people like you, the lifeblood of our party. As Chair, she will continue her efforts to keep you informed and involved and continue to raise the money needed to win aggressive campaigns.

With the recent nomination of Monmouth County Republican Chair Joe Oxley to become the Superior Court bench, we must find a new Chair who will continue his recent successes in leading our party. Christine Hanlon has played an integral part in those successes and we are writing today to ask you to vote for Christine  to succeed Chairman Oxley as Monmouth County Republican Chair.

We strongly endorse Christine Hanlon for Chairwoman, and ask that you vote for her at the upcoming Monmouth County Republican Convention.

some of them actually have a vote, some don’t.. and, btw, the delegation is split in support, so it’s a wash, for what it’s worth, in the end..it’ll come down to turnout that night: we’ve had both large and small ones..

It will be a wash if the other 4 actually sign a letter for Senator Bennett. From what I’m hearing, that is not likely to happen.

With two weeks to go, MMM’s unscientific poll has Christine winning by a comfortable margin.

Art, Its your site but some thought it was more of a news site. If you keep pushing Christine, censoring others and slanting the material in favor of Christine, you may win the County Chair but at what cost? Let the candidates and their resumes speak for themselves.
If your goal is to alienate certain demographics of our party, it may be working. I will say and it is strictly the way I feel and my opinion only but I do feel you are alienating me and i fit the a conservative demographic.
If some don’t share my point of view, its okay but regardless of who I support I will not harm the other REPUBLICAN. Nor will I twist facts, misrepresent or interpret other posts or slinging mud.
This is a Republican only contest. Mud slinging will make us ALL look bad to ALL who are watching. To all who may read this what I’m trying to say is, Keep it FAIR, keep it CLEAN and may the best person win. In the end we need to support one another and not destroy one another.

I’ve published all material, or written about all material, that I have received from either Chair candidate, in both the Republican and Democratic races.

I called Senator Bennett to encourage him to send his material. He knows he is welcome to do so. When Christine advertized, I called Bennett to invite him to advertize.

The “censorship” you speak of was only is only of the sexist commenter and only after a very public warning.

Additionally, I have a no comments from proxy server policy.

Why there has been so much interest in this race from Sussex County and New York based hospitals, I don’t know, but as long as those posts are not coming from proxys, they don’t get deleted.

  5. You may be "hearing" said at 11:13 am on May 29th, 2012:

wrong, because you seem to only be listening to one side..am quite surprised at the slant on this one.. agree with A.C, right on, brother/sister!.. we don’t need to act like Obamamaniacs, as though it’s a blood-sport.. whomever wins, we have to get it together, fight the new, revived Dem team, and beat them, again and again.. would be nice if it could be united, not fractured, with a new kabal excluding any fellow Republicans who want to contribute….

  6. ArtGallagher said at 11:17 am on May 29th, 2012:

    You may be “hearing” wrong….

You’ve used this site quite liberally to promote your candidate. You’ve got nerve saying I’m slanting the stories.

Get your guy to send me his material and I’ll publish it, just as I have all along.

  7. ArtGallagher said at 11:20 am on May 29th, 2012:

Oh, and A.C. and you may be hearing….

    What mud slinging?

  8. A.C. said at 12:32 pm on May 29th, 2012:

Art, The mudslinging i refer to is when someone posted a comment on Senator Bennett’s article announcement of his candidacy, calling Senator Bennett a “bad father” because is daughter volunteered not to work for the county because of a possible perceived conflicts. To me and my interpretation, that was slinging mud and crossed a line. I did not see a public warning for that person or a banning by you or an article by you calling them sexist, nor did you defend Senator Bennett at all. that’s were i’m seeing the slant.

  9. ArtGallagher said at 12:40 pm on May 29th, 2012:

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought you were accusing me of mud slinging.

As I recall, someone else addressed that comment. Probably “You may be wrong” writing with a different prefix. It was a one time jab, as I recall.

I don’t think the term “bad father” was used. No one could realistically accuse Bennett of that given all that he has done for many of his family members over the years.

As you know, I generally give commenters a wide bearth. The sexism was going on a for a couple of days and getting worse before I put a stop to it.

  10. are we feeling said at 4:06 pm on May 29th, 2012:

a bit testy today?..gosh sakes, just tryin’ to keep it barely halfway even in the discourse, seems pretty one-sided thus far- is tough to keep up with Brian and the gang at times, but believe we need to try..totally up to the candidate as to what he wants to submit, we all just have our own experiences and opinions, and are often happy to share..and as always, thank you for yours….

  11. Astraea said at 6:02 pm on May 29th, 2012:

I’m so glad that the discussion here – while spirited – is really civilized, compared to what’s going on in the Bergen County Chairman’s race! I did want to thank Art for his strong response to the chauvinistic comments made.
