Senator Joe Kyrillos’ Response to Senator Bob Menendez’s Campaign Kick-off
“The voters of New Jersey know the truth behind Sen. Menendez’s record…”
Middletown, May 21…Senator Joe Kyrillos released the following statement today regarding Senator Bob Menendez’s campaign kickoff in Union City. Mr. Menendez is seeking another term in the United States Senate.
“The voters of New Jersey know the truth about Sen. Menendez’s record,” said Senator Kyrillos. “Since Mr. Menendez has been in office, our national debt has almost doubled and our national deficit has nearly quadrupled. Our unemployment rate continues to hover above 8 percent—that’s 20 million unemployed or underemployed people across the country. New Jerseyans see what Senator Menendez is doing is not working- and we need a change. I have worked with Governor Christie to turn around a state that was on the brink of bankruptcy. We’ve balanced our budgets, created jobs, and strengthened the economy without raising taxes. We need reforms like that in Washington, not more of the same from Senator Bob Menendez.”
Menendez and Corzine/MF Global ….Perfect Together (out of office, maybe in jail)
Not to nit-pick, but by law the budget has to be balanced every year.
Some would also say that not contributing a penny towards the states pension obligation in year 1 and only 1/7 of the actual required amount in year two is not exactly balancing a budget. The pension reforms will help some however pushing current obligations onto the next administration and future taxpayers once again is not exactly balancing a budget.
And where, exactly, has Christie and Kyrillos “turned around the state’? Our unemployment just went up…again, while other states are going down. Our (my) property taxes went up again this year and we haven’t had the property tax rebate since he took office. Please explain how our state has turned around.
Saying that Christie turned the NJ financial crisis around doesn’t make it true. Kyrillos has held office in NJ much longer than Christie and during his tenure what has Kyrillos done to improve upon the financial quality of life for the people living in NJ? How many net jobs were created? How many net business came to NJ? What accomplishments can Kyrillos point to as his own. A little research will show that Menendez brought millions of dollars to NJ.
Speaking of “perfect together”, Tom Stokes and the Township of Middletown Sewerage Authority (TOMSA) are truly perfect together. Tom is just another parasite sucking pension and healthcare dollars out of Middletown taxpayers. He is just another member of TOMSA who voted to give $700,000 of sewerage fees to the Middletown Township Committee because they needed the money to plug financial mismangement holes in the Township budget. Kyrillos should give Tom a call a ask him not to publically support his campaign.
After re-reading Kyrillos’ statement, it reminds me of the kind of half-truths that Dr. Gerry Scharfenberger used to spout when he was allowed to speak at Middletown Township Committee meetings. I say used to because since Christie appointed him to a $95 K state job he has been very quite at Township Committee meetings — was wearing a gag one of the requirements for the job?
What does Kyrillos offer to constructively produce the kind of “change” that he claims is necessary to correct what he believes is necessary to improve upon the efforts of Menendez?
