Little Quits Politics, Launches Musical Career

Falling short of the required 200 signatures to be a candidate for Congress, former Highlands Mayor Anna Little announced this morning that she is quitting politics and launching a career as a singer.

In an email blast to supporters the former freeholder and 2010 GOP nominee for Congress from New Jersey’s 6th district said,

“I have come to the conclusion that I can do more to serve we the people, born and unborn, with my God given musical talent than I can in the rough and tumble world of politics.   We have made a difference together, you and I, over the last two years that has given rise to certain opportunities that you made possible.

Governor Chris Christie has offered me the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium.  Texas Governor Rick Perry said he would have me sing the Anthem at the Cowboys-Giants game in Arlington this November.  Christie and Perry have promised to put a good word in for me with the 2013 Inaugural Committee to sing at President Romney’s swearing in ceremony or at the very least at one of the balls.

Ernesto Cullari has introduced me to his contacts at Disney.  Their talent scout thinks I can be the next Angela Lansbury, who according to Disney’s site is everyone’s cup of tea.  I could be next in line to play Mrs. Potts in the sequel and reprises of Beauty and the Beast on film and on Broadway.

In the meantime, I will be replacing the Kate Smith recording of God Bless America during the daily sunset ceremony at the Sea Gulls Nest at Sandy Hook.  Proprietor  Ed Segall is a big Pallone supporter.  Given the opportunity to serve we the people, born and unborn, with my musical talent, it is just not right to put my new employer in such an uncomfortable position.  I can see Sandy Hook from my house.”

Little, who lost the Monmouth GOP endorsement for Congress in the 6th district to Cullari, had counted on the Middlesex GOP to deliver the 200 required signatures during the convention that nominated her last Saturday, March 24.  However, at the end of the day, there was only 75 signatures.  Little collected another 135 signatures last week.  Upon learning that Cullari had filed 500 signatures with the NJ Secretary of State on Friday, including those of 120 Middlesex County GOP convention delegates, Little realized that her petition would probably not survive a challenge given the duplicate signatures.

Little’s email continued:

This is not the end of Anna’s Army, but a new beginning.  With my voice, we the people, born and unborn, can transform the culture of our country that you have been working so hard to save.

My backup chorus will be known as Anna’s Army.  You can participate by volunteering to sing in the chorus, buying our CD’s and downloading songs from our soon to be launched website, or by making Little contributions.

All the Little contributions you make will go to the same work they have always gone to, just in a different form.

I admire Anna Little for speaking about the rights of the unborn. I wish more New Jersey politicians did the same.

On an unrelated note, will you, Art, be blogging about Chris Christie’s trip to the Middle East?

Arthur Gallagher … how could you????? A revolting sicko april fool joke … at the expense of good Monmouth County residents. ARTHUR, YOU’D BETTER DO SOMETHING ABOUT CORRECTING THIS … ESPECIALLY SINCE, IN THE PAST, YOU’VE BEEN ABLE TO STIR A SYMPATHETIC NERVE IN SOME WHO HAD RESPECT FOR YOU…! How would you dare do something like this?????? To what length will some go to subject hard-working, serious-minded, District Leaders and long-time Monmouth County Natives, to such UNTRUE, SLEASY, GUTTER GARBAGE!!! Anyone that cast that vote for Cullari certainly DOES NOT CARE about Monmouth County residents of any party!!!. Obviously, their vote for an unknown is fulfilling their promise to keep Pallone in office and personal retaliation to satisfy a cronie whose nose is out of joint.
ANNA LITTLE will be elected to office by everyone in the 6th District once they are aware of the dishonest, ‘stick-it-to-them’, careless, double crossing, spineless, effort to mislead and misinform them. There are no secrets in this world and we are all fed up with the OBAMA TACTICS you are trying to pull….!! You can bet your bippy, Monmouth County residents DO NOT DESERVE this !!!!
Caring, patriotic, God-fearing, American Citizens are successfully collecting signatures of VERY UPSET and DISAPPOINTED voters to insure there will be a CHOICE on the Primary Ballot. One such American Patriot isn’t letting a recent total knee replacement keep him from protecting his friends and neighbors from being SCAMMED .. his wife is driving him door to door and folks are eagerly signing so everyone will have a choice on June 5th. ANNA LITTLE HAS NOT WITHDRAWN and the deceitfulness and misplaced loyalty prominently shows TRUE COLORS of those who turn their back on ONE OF OUR OWN for an UNKNOWN….! Shame on all of you!

@ Saghas re:Christie in the Middle East. Probably, it depends on what happens. I expect the Governor’s office will be providing updates and videos.

@Lee Atwater. You are welcome to buy the site and do what you like with it.

@ Edith: You should send me front page material for MMM

ARTHUR: I am not looking for publicity but I CERTAINLY CANNOT sit back and let Monmouth County residents be the butt of an irresponsible joke. My Palm Sunday will not be wasted – I will NEVER let down folks in Monmouth County and do everything in my power to deliver the message of those that fought and lived or died for a country they loved enough to sacrifice for. I’m EXPECTING you will do the right thing … I am very disappointed you would entertain such TACTICS. Have you no pride??????

that a talented and bright woman has made too many poor campaign and elective choices, to become the subject of an April Fool’s joke, no matter how innocent..for those who still support her, that’s your right, at least for now, until we see if the commie-in-chief gets returned to office in November..for those who have turned on her, for whatever the real or perceived reason, cut some slack, the lady still has a right to run and run, til she drops..(and she probably will)- I at least admire the ability to get punched and punched, and still go back for more, it wears me out, personally.. I do wish she could find a state or constituency that she could win in-I no longer believe Monmouth or New Jersey fit that bill..but, hey, let’s cut the personal attacks, though, and focus on beating all Dems and supporters of wrecking what’s left of our Constitution and way of life, before it’s too late (if it isn’t, already!)…

  11. Bob English said at 3:00 pm on April 1st, 2012:

Did everyone forget that it is April 1 (April Fools Day)? Art’s piece is very tongue in check and obviously just poking a bit of fun at Mrs. Little. All in all its very tame versus what one would face from an opponent in a NJ contested elction.

  12. Good Grief!! said at 3:05 pm on April 1st, 2012:

Oh. My. God. The politically correct police have become republicans. Get a life, people.

Art has an April Fools Joke tradition of long duration. Some of us eagerly await who he will skewer on 4/1.

You over sensitive whiners need to relax, enjoy the joke and move on.

And you Anna supporters who are so offended, look around. Everyone, not just Art, thinks Anna is a joke.

  14. truther said at 3:52 pm on April 1st, 2012:

Actually, its a brilliant piece and if Ms. Little had any brains left in that can’t make up what mind she has left, she might actually consider music. Of course, she is a lawyer who does immigration law. I wonder, does she practicer law anymore either?

  15. Tone Deaf said at 4:06 pm on April 1st, 2012:

Joke or not, I think Anna has a very awe inspiring operatic voice.

  16. The Glee Party said at 6:33 pm on April 1st, 2012:

Damn, how I wish this were April 2 so I would have some hope that this was not a joke. Art, if we’re lucky you’ve given her some food for thought – to start a barbershop quartet and call it the Glee Party. She could promise everyone lower keys, an end to illegal music sharing and more secure borders around her sheet music. Hey, more realistic than her political career is now.

  17. Edith T. Nowels said at 7:43 pm on April 1st, 2012:

Anna Little does not read this column and she DID NOT post the 1:31 p.m. message. Give yourself something better to do and go play in traffic! Make room for all those new faces clamoring to join the republican party you so desperately want to destroy!

  18. Tom Stokes said at 9:17 pm on April 1st, 2012:

Sometimes levity is needed in this rough and tumble political world we find ourselves in. Sometimes we even have to laugh at ourselves.

    Happy April Fools Day!

“for those who have turned on her, for whatever the real or perceived reason”

    TURNED ON HER?????????

You must not know her….. She turned on many including her own inside staff throughout the primary and election..

She used and abused people. Good, honest, caring, hardworking, generous people who took time and money away from their families to help her get elected and she SPIT their faces, talked behind their backs and abused them.

Edith do yourself a favor… don’t drink Anna’s Kool Aid

    Enough said

  21. Edith T. Nowels said at 2:05 am on April 5th, 2012:

Well, well, well … csc says s’nuff said. csc Can’t Stand Credibility so just don’t sign your name! Premised on ‘personal grudges’ organization cannot survive!!! ‘Turning your back’ on the 90% who supported a ‘PROVEN’ representative for an ‘absolute UNKNOWN’, is thoughtless and damaging to the enthusiastic success of the countywide grassroot effort and certainly affect the entire ticket! Monmouth County Residents DO NOT deserve to be ‘flamboozled’ !!! Let the voters decide based on Monmouth County’s ‘meat and potatoes’ rather than nourish the selfish ill will of personal agendas. Together, we must ‘fertilize’ this campaign with what is ‘just and right’ — the reason we like Monmouth County!

  22. It is sad, CSC, said at 12:13 pm on April 5th, 2012:

nevertheless, when someone very bright and talented wants something so badly they will say/do almost anything to make it happen, despite results to the contrary.. it is a character flaw, ( we all have different ones), and I do still feel badly about that, and wish the lady well in future endeavors.. and, I do know her very well, and experienced some of the negative things in the past, but, all need to learn that if you get involved in politics, either as a worker or candidate, you’d better grow some you-know-whats, and a thicker skin, pronto: it’s a break-neck, instantaneous, 24/7 news cycle, often cruel, crazy, and ever-changing process, and we can’t wallow in hurt feelings, and real or perceived slights forever, it’s simply not healthy.. we have to move on to the next campaign, do the best we can for those we do believe in, work hard, and hope for success.. it’s the American way, and ,for all its flaws and problems, I believe it is still the best system in the world..

  23. Edith T. Nowels said at 11:08 pm on April 5th, 2012:

The ‘cruel, crazy, and ever-changing process’ you have identified with, should NOT be given “legs” based on ‘hurt feelings, and real or perceived slights’! Happy you like and prefer the ‘healthy’ way and agree with me!!! To compromise ‘ethics’ and/or the American Way cannot be thrust upon those you are expecting loyalty and support from … WTH those comfortable with “dirty politics” are only interested in supporting their own agenda, suspect validity of anonymous comments, and could care less about the steadfast backbone of Monmouth County Residents you profess to represent.
Shortly, it will be Good Friday – make the best of it! Happy Easter!
