Little dropping out of U.S. Senate Race. Considering Rematch Against Pallone

Republican Primary in NJ-CD 6 between Anna Little and Ernesto Cullari looks likely

Anna Little, the former Monmouth County Freeholder and Mayor Highlands, will not be a candidate for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.   She has started to gather petition signatures for the 6th congressional district nomination. An announcement is planned for early next week.

Little was the GOP nominee against Congressman Frank Pallone in the 6th in 2010.

When asked to confirm Little’s switch from the Senate race to the House race, campaign manager Larry Cirignamo said, “I don’t know.”

Little has been reaching out to county chairs this week, who are overwhelmingly supporting State Senator Joe Kyrillos for the U.S. Senate nomination.   She cancelled a scheduled appearance for Republican Senate candidates with the New Jersey Tea Party Caucus.

Should Little decide to seek a rematch against Pallone, she will first have to get past a primary with Asbury Park resident Ernesto Cullari.

Cullari is a songwriter, producer and coach for young acting talent.  His clients have performed for Disney and Nickelodeon.  He is also an Orthopedic Consultant working in operating rooms installing dynamic splints. Cullari writes the weekly Justified Right column in The triCityNews.

Cullari told MMM that he decided to run for Congress on Wednesday of this week.   He will pursue the nomination regardless of Little or anyone else entering the race.  He will seek the support of the Monmouth and Middlesex County Republican organizations and compete in the primary.

The Monmouth County GOP is holding its candidate selection committee meeting on Friday morning March 16th.  Middlesex County GOP is holding a convention on Saturday March 24th.

Ernest Cullari will make a great Congressman!!!

  2. RICK TRADER said at 9:34 pm on March 9th, 2012:

ANNA LITTLE IS A TRUE CONSERVATIVE PATRIOT. SHE DESERVES OUR SUPPORT.

  3. A Little Peeved said at 9:35 pm on March 9th, 2012:

Will Anna Little give it up? What an attention-seeking phony!

  4. Charles M said at 9:38 pm on March 9th, 2012:

The citizens of the 6th district of New Jersey deserve better than a flip-flopping candidate that can’t decide what office there running for!

Ernest Cullari has been fighting the fight for conservatives for over 10 years!

  5. Peter C said at 9:54 pm on March 9th, 2012:

Ernest, I think is the best person for the job. At the very least he knows what office he is running for.

He has also been a good advocate for conservatism for many years and will stand up to Washington to fix the problem, not become part of the problem.

  6. Bob English said at 11:02 pm on March 9th, 2012:

Nothing against the announced candidates who I give credit to for stepping up to run but why is it that for all of the complaining and moaning and groaning about Congressman Pallone for years that not one elected Republican State Legislature, Freeholder, Mayor, Councilman or Councilwoman in the district will challange him?

  7. Good point Bob said at 1:52 am on March 10th, 2012:

If Assemblywoman Amy Handlin, Senator Sam Thompson, Assemblyman Clifton, the GOP Mayors of Middletown, Keyport, Matawan, Hazlet, Keansburg, Oceanport, Atlantic Highlands, Deal, Highlands, Monmouth Beach, Union Beach, West Long Branch OR County Surrogate Rosemarie Peters or Freeholder John Curley OR any of the other Republican powerhouses in the 6th district are running against Pallone, then certainly a columnist for a weekly paper or a washed up former highlands mayor will get slaughtered.

Who wants to be the sacrificial lamb this year?

  8. History said at 6:36 am on March 10th, 2012:

@ Bob English, back in 1992, Joe Kyrillos ran against Frank Pallone and then I believe in either 1990 or 1994 Steve Corodemus ran against him. Joe was State Senator and Steve in the State Assembly at the time they ran against him. The problem was that they were known in Monmouth County and that was about it.

I hate to say it, but you will not beat Frank Pallone if you run someone from Monmouth County. Especially in this knew district. 35-40% of his new district is Monmouth County and the rest in Middlesex County. You need a Republican who can and has won in Middlesex County as a Republican. I would like to see Councilman Bob Luban from Woodbridge throw his hat into the ring or Mayor Kennedy O’Brien of Sayerville would be a good choice.

With this new district, Monmouth County is not a strong hold anymore. The republican candidate could win the county 60%-40% and it still won’t be enough to win the race overall. Especially in an Obama year where turn out in Asbury Park, Perth Amboy, Woodbridge, New Brunswick, etc., are going to be very high.

And as far as Anna Little goes…..yesterday’s news. She’s done. Finished! She is crazier than ever. And Charles M is correct, the people of the 6th district deserve a candidate that knows what office they are running for. Her switch from running against Pallone to then running for Senate to back to running for Congress shows one thing…..ANNA LITTLE IS IN THIS RACE FOR HERSELF AND NOT FOR THE PEOPLE! This whole We the People crap she says is just a tease. She is an opportunist and will manipulate anyone until she gets what she wants. Sorry Anna, maybe on another planet you can be a Congresswoman. NEXT!

I’d rather vote for Pallone than Anna Little and I have never voted for a Democrat.

The one thing that is certainly not “Little” about Anna is her ego. Well there are a few things but we’ll stick with that.

Way to go Anna, now you can solicit the support of thetwo Democrats you teamed up with to screw us over when you were mayor.

Is this the Little camp’s version of some kind of early April Fool’s joke?

  13. The Over Seer said at 1:30 pm on March 10th, 2012:

I don’t know what Anna is doing now, she sent out an e-mail this morning asking for people to get signatures her for United States Senate petition. And on top of that asking for donations for her United States Senate campaign.

Sorry but Anna is done. I was at Forum in Keyport on sat and listened to 3 candidates speak on the issues. By far the most organized and best funded candidate was Bader Qarmout. When Bader spoke he made perfect sense and he had a plan for jobs and a very good plan for immigration reform. He is also very well informed on the issues and charismatic very funny. I do not care if anna is in or out this week. I will vote and support Bader Qarmout. As for J.Kyrilos he will not win against Menendez. Bader has an immigration plan that will take votes away from Menendez, Bader can beat Menendez. BQ is for me & U

If the Republicans can’t understand why they keep losing it’s because they can’t look in a mirror. They are the problem. They suppress decent candidates in favor of career politicians who are “next in line.” Since when is candidacy for political office a union job? The fix is in for Menendez and Pallone. Thanks Republican party. nice work yet again, your heads stuck so far up Democrat a** while you screw the people of NJ. Gutless spineless SOBs. History lessons from a guy who backs Bob Luban for higher? The guy must be the class dunce. Doesn’t he know that the Lubans don’t know what party it is unless the Trenton patronage machine tells them? And how much he cost the taxpayers of Woodbridge and Rahway, real watchdog for the people he is.

We’ll, at least Bader Q has a better website than Rullobot, who seems to be pushing his solar business more than anything else

  21. WTF? said at 6:47 pm on March 11th, 2012:

Will somebody please demonstrate when exactly Anna said she can’t decide between a rematch with Pallone and a shot at Bobby Menendez??? Never heard anything different than she was considering a Senate race this year. But since folks around here seem to spend a lot of time online…PROVE IT.

as was said earlier, the one thing that is not “Little” is her ego. She is not practicing law and her husband is out of work. So exactly how is she going to be able to do a congressional race. Maybe if she sings “God Bless America” enough she’ll raise enough money to pay for a piano player. She is one of the worst kept political jokes in NJ. She needs to pack it in once and for all.
