Marlboro Republicans Respond to Contest set forth by Democrat Incumbents

Republican Candidates Craig Marshall, Christopher Dean, and Marianne Longobardi respond to contest set forth by the Democrat incumbents

With just over a month to go until the election, Democrat incumbents Jon Hornik, Frank LaRocca, and Randi Marder have shown that they will do anything it takes to get elected; even if it means to buy a vote.
In the recent article published on Patch.com, Jon Hornik and the rest of his team are now trying to earn votes by offering a $250 reward for this so called “game” they have initiated. “I find it distasteful and certainly not what an election decision should be about.” Craig Marshall, candidate for Mayor, said “it is interesting that instead of talking about the issues that matter most to the citizens of Marlboro like taxes, jobs, spending, Mayor Hornik along with his running mates are trying to divert attention from their out of control spending and actions.”
Craig Marshall is referring to the sky rocket legal and engineering fees the town has endured over the last four years, as well as, Randi Marder’s husband doing business with the town while she is serving as a member of the council.
“The use of the car as a campaign gimmick only illustrates their failure to grasp the concerns of the taxpayers” said Marianne Longobardi, candidate for Town Council, “Instead of a one time $250 contest, the taxpayers of Marlboro would be better suited by leadership that will reduce their property taxes.”
Marshall, Dean, & Longobardi have pledged that if elected they will put to an end to the reckless spending and always put taxpayers first!

First, grab a clue about the municipal budget process. That would be tough since NONE of you have EVER gone to a budget meeting.

Also know that REPUBLICAN STEVE ROSENTHAL and REPUBLICAN ROSA TRAGNI have complimented the current team seeking reelection for the cuts in spending and control of expenses.

As for the car – it’s a fun contest that will promote a local business.

  2. Paul j Schlaflin said at 7:11 pm on October 8th, 2011:

Are you kidding me Mr Marshall..JOBS! Did you really say that? You want to be mayor to create JOBS? That is funnier than the former republican nitwit that wanted to be a crime fighter.

And please, next time you get a chance to excrete..um express your ideas, give an example of reckless spending would you pretty please

  3. ArtGallagher said at 7:19 pm on October 8th, 2011:

Actually Paul, a Mayor and Council does have the power to bring jobs to their community.

Look for just such an announcement about another Monmouth County community soon.

  4. Paul J Schlaflin said at 7:51 pm on October 8th, 2011:

Well Art, I have to assume since this administration brought in Costco and Whole Foods as well as making Marlboro more business friendly for existing business, Mr Marshall must have been talking about CREATING municipal jobs…but perhaps you are correct he did mean bringing in business and is clueless about this record of accomplishment also! Thanks for that clarification.

  5. Bill Powers said at 10:27 pm on October 8th, 2011:

    Mr. Art,

First of all Mr. Art you should have said that you own this site, and as such should be an impartial moderator.

If you want to be the K Baratta clone, you should say so up front. You should also state that you are a republican operative and make a profit from visits to your site. Where have I heard the DEAN TEAM talk about doing business and making profits?

I know that 103 jobs were created with the Fireside B&G.

    THAT’S 103 JOBS THAT DIDN’T EXIST!

A new entertainment complex is going in on Rt 9 that will employ AT LEAST 125.

    THAT’S 125 JOBS THAT DIDN’T EXIST!

    Costco has hired hundreds.

THAT”S HUNDREDS of JOBS THAT DIDN’T EXIST!

Whole foods will also add scores of NEW JOBS.

This was all done under the shepherding of Mayor Hornik and Deputy Mayor Rosen and the Economic Development Committee.

    Mr. Bill,

    GFY.

Like you said, this is my place. If you don’t like how I run it, go somewhere else.

As the masthead announces, I am not impartial. I do however give points of view contrary to mine a wide bearth here.

I have an inkling that there is going to quite a bit of Marlboro traffic here over the next four weeks. Piss me off and you can take your rebutals to Kathy’s place. Good luck getting the word out there.

  7. Marlboro Resident said at 9:05 am on October 9th, 2011:

    Hey Art,

Just thought a little FYI of Mr. Paul Shalflin. He was on the zoning (could have been planning) board. After September 11th he wrote “kill all them sand nig***” he was kicked off the board, then sued the ethics committe and now is itching his way to be back on a board.

Also, it should be known that the Mayor gave his community and 25 year tax break and Paul essentially pays no property taxes and in return his payment to Jon Hornik is to write and slander the opposition on blogs and do Jon Hornik’s dirty work. Just so it seems that Johnny boy is a nice guy and plays fair. I’m calling bullshit! (excuse my French)

  8. Kathy Baratta said at 11:13 am on October 9th, 2011:

Yes, Mr. Powers. On this ONE thing Art is absolutely correct. If you really want an audience for your writings you really should join my Board.

As you can see from the following, my Board has quite a following. (The numbers don’t lie while, unfortunately, people do).

Um, Art, when was the last time a newspaper column was written about your site?

I mean you know you’re doing something right (and that he KNOWS everyone is reading you) when a sitting politician does his level best to shut you down in order to stifle his opposition.

Thanks for the compliment and the referral, Art.

anonymous Marlboro resident, surely a member of the Dean Dream Team (as in nightmare), perhaps Libby herself, you give yourself away with your typical lack of details. I wrote “death to the Sand N…..” on my truck after the first tower fell. Was wrongly arrested and aquitted. I sued the police for 1st amendment violation. I was not on any board and was not kicked off of anthing.

While serving on the zoning board 8 years later 4 members of the Republican club brought a bogus ethics complaint after I sent a nasty letter to their malicious web site. The republican chairman of the ethics board was the engineer of the railroad that found me guilt and I stepped down while I appealed. The state overturned the ‘conviction” in record time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrlxrbVK5pQ go in to 7:45

Mr Dean apeared to be a part of this cabal until he wanted to be municipal chair as the EB chairman refered to him as a complainant and his name appeared on the transcripts.

At the end of the day I am not running and my history doesn’t make the clueless team of Done Nothing, Newbie and Who Is She? any more viable as candidates.

  10. Paul J Schlaflin said at 12:00 pm on October 9th, 2011:

Oh yeah, clueless Marlboro resident. “my” community recieved a lease with a 500% rent increase and we each pay rent approximently equal to the taxes paid in other affordable housing communities and we pay for our streetlights, snowplowing, etc.

And for the record slander is spoken so if anything I write was untrue it would be libel. But nothing I write is false just often an example of “the truth hurts”.

  11. ArtGallagher said at 12:26 pm on October 9th, 2011:

    Kathy!!! Welcome back!

You asked when the last time a newspaper wrote about this site….

That I know of, it would have been last Sunday, The Asbury Park Press, a front page article about the Lt. Governor.
    http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011310020031

Like you said, Kathy, the numbers don’t lie. According to alexa.com your site is ranked #2,175,475. This site is ranked 885,726 globally. Of all sites in the New York area, MMM is ranked 40,942 this afternoon.

MMM is also part of CNN’s local news feed. Its been written about in the Star Ledger, FoxNews.com, Drudge and a few others.

You’re welcome for the referal. But I’m not shutting Mr. Bill down. I did put a post where he insulted you, Kathy, in the pending que, but he is still welcome here, as are you.

  12. Bill Powers said at 12:29 pm on October 9th, 2011:

    Dear KB

You certainly are a bottom feeder. Your escapades in Howell, where you don’t even live are legendary. Your “career” as a yellow reporter (I can’t call you a journalist) was a disgrace to your former employer who finally saw the light and let you resign. Why come to Marlboro? We want you as much as the people of Manalapan or Howell. Why is it that you aren’t involved in Freehold Twp, your home town. Could it be that they want nothing to do with you either?

Thanks for looking in and go back to bashing Howell.

  13. ArtGallagher said at 12:40 pm on October 9th, 2011:

OK, Mr.Bill, I’m going to give Kathy the last word in response to your post and mine, if she writes back.

Other than that, let’s stay on topic. The Marlboro election has more interest than any other in Monmouth County so far this year.

  14. Bill Powers said at 1:23 pm on October 9th, 2011:

    Fair enough

  15. Kathy Baratta said at 1:25 pm on October 9th, 2011:

Yes, ’tis true I am “legendary” in Howell for my “escapades.” Something I am as proud of as was the New Jersey Press Association. Two times; first and second place journalism awards. Feel free to Google.

As to my former employer who, according to your turgid prose, “let me resign.” What? Did they have me shackled to my desk? Actually, quite the contrary. I worked from home and it was lovely. But, as we know, sometimes all good things must come to an end and, to their (and mine, of course), dismay, a viral cardiomyopathy diagnosis made my very survival contingent on my early retirement. Sorry. I made it and am continuing to do well if I pace myself. Which is why I really don’t concern myself with people like yourself but seeing as my old friend Art brought me up by name. Well, it just wouldn’t have been neighborly if I didn’t respond. (See Art, this is where those emoticons I requested some time ago would really help set the tone. You can’t always rely on someone’s ability to denote sarcasm when they’ve already demonstrated a limited capacity).

But, I digress. As regards my being “involved” in the doings of my home of Freehold Township, would you like me to post the proclamation here that I received from the Freehold Township Committee when I retired? Or maybe the one from the Manalapan Township Committee. No? Perhaps then, the one from the state legislature where I was lauded for being, “renowned for her superb investigative skills as well as her interesting, clear and accurate articles,” and for having,”…established a model to emulate and set a standard of excellence toward which others might strive…”

Factor in that I’m also the life partner of the Freehold Township Republican Club president and I’d say I’m doing my fair share all around.

How ’bout you? What have you done for us lately?

  16. ArtGallagher said at 1:35 pm on October 9th, 2011:

    OK…that’s it for the

    Mr. Bill

    /Kathy/Art lovefest.

Back to the Marlboro lovefest, please.

  17. Kathy Baratta said at 1:36 pm on October 9th, 2011:

P.S. Art, I hadn’t seen that article. Kudos.
But, I wouldn’t be the bitch that I’m supposed to be if I didn’t nitpick the fact that I was referring to an actual column by a newspaper editor dedicated solely to you and your right to publish.

And seriously, don’t let the fact that he was my former editor sway you into thinking that was why he wrote the editorial column. In my more than ten years there, we fought constantly over what might or might not be (or should be included or edited from) a story. (Again, Art. Emoticons.)

You stay well, Art. Oh, I thought I would have seen you at Jen’s fundraiser at the Beach Club last month. Maybe at another?
    Ciao!

The KB site is a waste barren, trash zone where KB takes a joy ride every day to celebrate herself. She was a mean, nasty and putrid writer for a local paper that sits all mushy at the bottom of your driveway that you drive over rather than pick up. She was asked to leave and of course “retired”. She literally begged and campaigned to get these so called resolutions honoring her. The fact is the people were just glad she would no longer be covering their tows. She is a train wreck. Its mostly the same 14 house-bound nut jobs that read and post on her site and they all celebrate one another. There is no comparison to her site and what Art has created. Amazing that she trolls this site to see if her name comes up so she can reply to it. Amusing and pathetic all at the same time. She’s like a bad rash that just keep itching. You should all do yourself a favor and just ignore her and it. A pathetic individual.

  19. Jim Sage said at 2:43 pm on October 9th, 2011:

Lets not get sidetracked by KB..it’s not about her!! Now back to the thread, popcorn in hand.

Traffic is way up on this one Art.

    Joey, Joey, Joey,

To borrow from you, “how sad” you’ve become.

Oh, that’s right. You want me to call you “Mayor” DiBella. Talk about desperate. All one has to do is go to my Board and “listen” for themselves as you flounder about in the desperate loss that was your own undoing of your future political career.

  21. Joe said at 9:03 pm on October 9th, 2011:

Joey? Get a hold of yourself KB. You give yourself way too much credit for everything. It is good to know you are so paranoid about yourself you have to troll other web sites to see if your name gets mentioned. And why attack Mayor DiBella?

  22. TR said at 5:52 pm on October 10th, 2011:

Art, I am bored. post something new!

And what is wrong with the people in Marlboro? Does it have something to do with that superfund site? Is the water contaminated or what?

  23. Sancho Panza said at 7:26 am on October 11th, 2011:

@”Does it have something to do with that superfund site?”

Which one, Imperial Oil or Burnt Fly Bog?

  24. Chuckie said at 9:39 am on October 16th, 2011:

Let me add to the mess here for the Hornik drones. First, it is not the townships job to grant any application based on what employment will come of it. It’s legal requirement is it fits the master plan, period. Employment is fluff BS politics. Second-The Costco application was planned and reviewed during Kleinberg’s tour not Hornik’s. Giving him credit for it is a lie. It was put on the back burner by Costco due to economic downturn in 2009. Lastly, the Fireside Inn is tainted by the fact that members of the Planning Board were permitted to attend and negotiate it behind closed doors and unadvertised tech meetings designed for the applicants and the professionals. This is strictly verboten by law no matter how they spin it. Imagine, seeing the planning chairman at the applicant’s engineer’s office talking about the design. People freak when they stop and talk to them before the meeting in the aisle. Drones.
