Declan O’Scanlon On JCP&L, Monmouth Park And A Conservative Approach To Social Problems
Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon visited the Real Jersey Guys On the Radio, Richard LaRossa and your favorite blogger for the third time this summer.
Here it is, in case you missed it:
Enjoyed the show and glad to hear from Assemblyman O’Scanlon that more members of the Legislature are taking a look at having slots at The Meadowlands…….However they need to act right NOW before its to late. This includes Governor Christie and Senator Sweney who are both primarily responsible for slots/vlt’s at The Meadowlands being held up when the majority (and maybe super majority) of the Legislature would vote to pass a bill permitting them today if given the opportunity. Hundreds of millions of dollars are being poured into AC, $200 million plus for Xanadu and $90 million for Panasonic to move ten miles down the road.
The horseracing industry does not want those kinds of handouts but wants to be able to compete with tracks in surrounding states on an even playing field.
The bottom line is that slots/vlt’s at the Meadowlands would generate $1 billion/year in new revenue for the State with very little impact to Atlantic city.
