N.J. joins other 6 states to coordinate buying medical equipment for coronavirus outbreak

New Jersey will join six other states in the region to pool resources for buying for personal protective equipment and other medical supplies as the area continues to battle the coronaviruspandemic, officials announced Sunday.

The announcement was made during New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s daily coronavirus briefing. Gov. Phil Murphy and other governors joined the briefing by video conference.

Congressman Smith secures 41 million medical gloves held by Customs

Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ4) became aware on Monday that 41.3 million medical-grade gloves owned by Iselin based Ansell had been held by
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) since last September.

Twenty-four hours later, after dozens of phone calls from Rep. Smith to numerous federal officials, CBP released the gloves which are now being distributed to medical professionals and first responders throughout the United States.
