Doherty turns down MVC job

Doherty to head MVC?

Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty is slated to become the Chairman and Chief Administrator of the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission, according to multiple unsourced reports.

Governor Murphy has not yet nominated Doherty for the position, which requires the advice and consent of the Senate, according to the Legislature’s website.

Doherty is in the final year of his second term as mayor of the borough.

O’Scanlon: Make Drivers’ Licenses Expire On Birthdays

Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon is the best friend New Jersey drivers have in Trenton.

The Monmouth County legislator who defeated red light cameras today announced that he is introducing legislation that will reduce the end of the month waiting lines at Motor Vehicle Commission offices by changing the date that drivers’ licenses expire from the last day of the month to the birthday of the driver.

Selika Josiah Gore Joins Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

Selika Josiah Gore of Marlboro, NJ has been appointed the Director of Field Programs at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.  

FMCSA is the federal agency that regulates heavy duty vehicles. Its mission is to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities involving large trucks and buses.

Gore for the last five years was the Deputy Administrator of Operations at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission where she was responsible for customer service at all 39 MVC branch offices, the vehicle inspection and emissions program, business and motor vehicle dealer licensing, state bus inspections, capital planning.  At MVC she oversaw a staff of 1800 and managed an annual budget of $330 million.
