Josh Welle using free Wifi at Panera Bread in Ocean Township last month
In a podcast published last week, former congressional candidate Josh Welle said that if he runs for election again it will likely be for a national office and that it would likely be in 4-6 years.
Last December after he became the 20th Democrat to lose to Congressman Chris Smith, Welle told NJGlobe that he was considering a run for State Assembly in the 13th district to replace retiring Assemblywoman Amy Handlin.
Monmouth County Freeholder Gerry Scharfenberger received the GOP endorsement for Handlin’s seat at a convention in Freehold yesterday. Democrats are set to endorse their candidates next Saturday. Josh Welle declined to answer MMM’s questions about his company, Severn Pacific Inc, when we got him on the phone this morning and again when we met him in Red Bank this afternoon. However, his company issued a statement to NewJerseyGlobe which blamed the company’s external business agent, Harvard Business Services of Lewes, Delaware, for failing to dissolve the company during the summer of 2017.

Congressman Chris Smith was in Hamilton on Tuesday to celebrate the installation of a new 1.9 million, 5000 panel, solar power array at Ingersoll-Rand’s Trane Residential HVAC manufacturing facility.
The plant, which has been operational since the 1940’s ,employs almost 1200 people in two shifts. The new solar array will provide 15% of the facility’s electricity and is part of the company’s commitment to reduce their global greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2020.

Two River Theater Company in Red Bank and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts will each received competitive federal grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Congressman Chris Smith announced.
“These two organizations are making significant contributions to our communities through promoting access to and participation in the arts and reaching out to young people,” Rep. Smith stated.“They are leaders in helping promote a public good. The Two River Theater has been a long-standing treasure in Monmouth County, fostering an appreciation for the arts for generations of participants and theater-goers.”

Four Monmouth County high school students enrolled in Communications High School in Wall Township were named the winners of the Congressional App Challenge from New Jersey’s 4th District, Congressman Chris Smith announced on Wednesday.
“The App Challenge encourages school students to become active in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields, computer science and programming by creating and exhibiting their software applications,” said Smith. “This challenge is an important step to inspire creativity, career skills and teamwork, which can help participating students to be poised for high-tech jobs of the future.”
