NJ Division of Elections transferring voters calls to 83 year old widow’s home phone

UPDATE 10/14/20: The NJ Division of Elections has corrected the issue and Maryanne is no longer getting calls.

Maryanne, an 83 year old widow who lives in Freehold, is getting about 45 phone calls a day on her home phone from Monmouth County voters calling to see if their ballots have been received by the Board of Elections.

The voters did not call the wrong number.

Unaffiliated and Dem voters are voting earlier than Republicans

There have been over 6 million votes cast nationally in the general election so far, according to a report at TheHill.

Almost 4 million of those votes have been cast by voters unaffiliated with the Democrat or Republican Parties. 1.4 million ballots have been cast by Democrats and 653,000 by Republicans.

Hanlon announces extended hours for voter registration

October 13 is the last day to register to vote in the November 3 election

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon is reminding County residents that the deadline for new voters to register to vote is Tuesday, October 13, in order to vote in the November 3 general election.

New voters can register online by visiting the State’s voter registration portal, or in person at the County Superintendent/Registrar of Elections Office located at 300 Halls Mills Rd. in Freehold Township. This office will be open until 9 p.m. on the 13th to accommodate last minute registrants.

Atlantic Cinemas announces modified schedule

Atlantic Cinemas will reopen on Thursday, October 15, with a showing of Infidel, an inspired by true events political thriller starring Jim Caviezel.

Thereafter, the theater will be open for first run movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only, owner Fred Rast said. Private parties, concerts, films by independent local producers will occur whenever they are available and scheduled.

Howell Deputy Mayor seeks Lakewood Mayor’s help with park safety

Howell Deputy Mayor Evelyn O’ Donnell wrote to Lakewood Mayor Raymond Cole on Wednesday seeking his help in communicating the importance of adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols to his Township’s residents.

Howell closed its parks this week due to overcrowding and a lack of social distancing.

Marletta granted parole after serving less than four years for death of 15 year Atlantic Highlands girl

Toni Ann Marletta, the woman who killed 15 year old Marissa Procopio of Atlantic Highlands on Route 36 in Leonardo on July 7, 2015, has been granted parole. She is eligible to be released from State Prison on November 9, 2020.

Marletta was sentenced to seven years in state prison on December 2, 2016. She is scheduled to be released after serving less than fours years.

93 new COVID-19 cases in Monmouth, No new deaths

Monmouth County reported 93 new COVID-19 cases on October 3 and no new coronavirus related deaths, according to an announcement by Freeholder Director Tom Arnone and Deputy Director Sue Kiley.

According to the NJ Department of Health, Monmouth County has now had a total of 12, 171 positive COVID-19 test results, 776 confirmed deaths and 92 probable deaths from the virus.

Middletown Police: Search for Mary Silengo continues

The missing persons investigation into the whereabouts of Mary Silengo, 62, of Shadow Lake Village is ongoing, according to a statement by Deputy Chief Paul Bailey of the Middletown Township Police Department.

A body found floating in Shadow Lake on the afternoon of October 1 has not been identified. Deputy Chief Bailey told MMM that he did not know the gender of the deceased.
