Arnone Report: Freeholder Director Praises County Employees and other good stuff..

By Tom Arnone, Monmouth County Freeholder Director

Freeholder Director Tom Arnone

While I could say the last few weeks have been very busy, the truth of the matter is that the County stays busy around the year with ongoing projects and initiatives.

I would like to provide a few updates from the departments I oversee, including the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. I’m proud to serve as the liaison to this department and cannot praise enough the tremendous work these – and all – County employees do on a daily basis to maintain the high quality of life we enjoy in Monmouth County.

Last week, my fellow Freeholders and I held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the Heavy Equipment Maintenance Building (HEMB) at the Public Works Complex.

Satan’s Motorized Scooters in Asbury Park

By Tommy DeSeno

Asbury Park Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn

This column will mention Asbury Park Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn as well as her friends.  Nothing is their fault.  There’s just no way to tell the story without them.

This past August, Asbury Park started allowing motorized scooters here.  Deputy Mayor Quinn led the effort.

Quinn, the darling of local Democrats, selected a company called Spin for the scooters. Spin appears to be an eco-friendly San Francisco start-up that fits well with Asbury’s woke progressives who hate oil companies and long for Congresswoman AOC’s Green New Delusion. The reality?  Spin is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company.  Big Industry.  Big oil.  The transportation equivalent of a Red Lobster on the Boardwalk.

Amy Quinn really, really wants her pet project to do well.  Apparently, so does the Asbury Park Press.

Arnone Report: County Had Successful Summer Season

By Tom Arnone, Monmouth County Freeholder Director

Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone

It’s finally starting to feel like fall and I couldn’t be happier! From pumpkin picking to festivals and everything in between, there is always something fun to do during this season in Monmouth County.

I’ve certainly kept busy over the last few weeks at several events throughout the entire County that I would like to briefly share with you.

Despite celebrating the fall season, last week I joined my fellow Freeholders at the beach in Long Branch to host our annual End-of-Summer press conference. As liaison to the Department of Public Information and Tourism, I discussed how our businesses and towns fared through the 2019 season.

Downey’s Inaction Puts Sick Kids At Risk Of Sexual Assault

Asemblywoman Joann Downey, the Chairwoman of the Human Services Committee, has buried a bill in her committee that would require psychiatric health care facilities to provide 24 hour per day monitoring of children under their supervision, according to a report on NJHerald.

The bill is being championed by a Hunterdon County mother whose 7 year old foster son was sexually abused by another patient while under the care of Newark Beth Israel’s psychiatric facility in 2015. It has been buried in Downey’s pile for 18 months.

O’Scanlon: Aberdeen Officials Need to Atone for False, Political Mailing Sent on Taxpayer Dime, Threats to County Officials

Councilman Greg Cannon threatened  County Officials

Taxpayers paid for political mail

Senator Declan O’Scanlon

Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) today sharply criticized Aberdeen Township’s taxpayer-funded distribution of flagrantly misleading information regarding the municipal record on taxes.

In July, Aberdeen’s governing body sent out a mailing to residents blatantly, and falsely, claiming that there was no increase in municipal taxes. The mailing blamed tax increases on schools, Monmouth County, and assessment methodologies.

“I’ve worked well and in good faith with Aberdeen during all my years in the legislature. Our good relationship makes my having to make this statement all the more difficult. But the Aberdeen administration failed its constituents on so many levels revolving around this demonstrably misleading, blatantly political, taxpayer-funded communication that I simply cannot let it stand,” said O’Scanlon

Promise and Accomplishment: Hornik looks back on three terms and plans his fourth

By Jonathan Hornik, Mayor of Marlboro

Marlboro Mayor Jonathan Hornik

When I was first elected Mayor, I detailed my ‘Plan for Progress…100 Days and Beyond’.  As a lifelong resident of Marlboro and business person, I stressed the need for investment in public safety and infrastructure including roads and open space preservation while getting our fiscal house in order.  Especially in light of the great recession and the severe storms which we weathered as a community, I am pleased that we have been able to accomplish as much as we have, and my focus for the next four years will be on these same critical areas.
