Federal prosecutors say they intend to retry U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez on political corruption charges. The trial of the New Jersey Democrat ended in a mistrial in November after jurors were unable to reach a verdict. Interim U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions appointed Craig Carpenito Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey today, according to an announcement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“Craig Carpenito has experience in private practice, with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and as an Assistant United States Attorney,” Attorney General Sessions said. “He has successfully prosecuted white collar criminals and fraudsters, and as Interim United States Attorney for New Jersey, he will continue to put criminals out of business—and behind bars.” Read the rest of this entry »
