Xi Jinping’s assault on Hong Kong democracy activists is the latest example of the Chinese Communist Party’s cruelty and weakness

At a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs Committee today, Rep Chris Smith (R-NJ), author of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act said “the great people of Hong Kong had a sweeping, draconian, anti-democracy policy imposed upon them yesterday—the so-called National Security Law.”

Trump signs the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act

The freedom loving people of Hong Kong are celebrating the support of the United States this Thanksgiving Day thanks to President Trump’s signing of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, a law that our Congressman Chris Smith has been championing since 2014.

Congressman Smith’s Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019

We’ve seen the news of many thousands of citizens of Hong Kong taking to the streets to protest the erosion of their Human Rights and Democracy.

Congressman Chris Smith has introduced the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act four times since 2014.  Today, the bill will have a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives.
