Sonnek-Schmelz challenges Pallone to two debates

Brent Sonnek-Schmelz

Brent Sonnek-Schmelz

Brent Sonnek-Schmelz, the Republican candidate for congress in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District (parts of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties) publicly challenged Congressman Frank Pallone to two debates today after not hearing back from the 28 year incumbent after extending a private invitation.

“Congressman Pallone should live up to his own words and debate me.  The people of the Sixth District deserve to hear him defend his failed policies and tell us why after 28 years in Congress, the loss of Fort Monmouth and the government corruption following Sandy, he deserves reelection,” said Sonnek-Schmelz.  “Pallone was chomping at the bit for debates when it would have benefited him politically during his failed U.S. Senate campaign. Failure by Mr. Pallone to agree to these debates would reveal him to not only be a hypocrite, but a brazen one at that.  I am hoping he exceeds my expectations and agrees to stand on a stage with me and contrast our competing visions for the country and our district face-to-face.”

When asked to respond to his challenger’s call for him to return the $10K he’s accepted from Mylan Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of EpiPen, the lifesaving emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock, Congressman Frank Pallone blamed the 400% wholesale price increase for the drug on congressional Republicans.

“It’s outrageous that drug companies like Mylan continue to dramatically increase the cost of lifesaving drugs, and this is just the latest example of why Congress needs to tackle the overall problem. I’ve been a longtime and outspoken advocate for Congress and my committee to address this issue, but, unfortunately, the Republican majority has repeatedly refused to work with us to solve this problem. We must find a solution to ensure that American’s aren’t subject to the whims of bad actors in the Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry,” Pallone’s statement to Observer read. (emphasis added)

Sunday is GoTopless Day

By Art Gallagher

Not a transgender person

Not a transgender person

If a pre-op transgender person with boobs and male parts goes topless in public, is that person violating anti-nudity ordinances?

I’d ask Congressman Frank Pallone, but he couldn’t tell me if a woman with all the parts she was born with should have the right to go topless wherever a man does when I caught up with him three years ago.  Since then, the president of the GoTopless movement has publicly chastised the congressman and he runs the other way whenever he sees me.

Poké Pallone wants to regulate your Jigglypuff

Capture

Jigglypuff and Pallone

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr is hard at work for the people of Monmouth and Middlesex counties.

The 28 year incumbent and ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee along with two other Democrat members of the committee wrote to the president of Niantic, Inc, the developer of the Pokémon Go app, earlier this week inquiring into what the company is doing to ensure that users of the game do not wander outside their home wireless network and incur unexpected data charges on their cell phone bills.

Congressman Chris Smith and Monmouth County Shaun Golden prepare to survey Hurricane Sandy damage. November, 2012

Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ4) introduced legislation yesterday that, if enacted, would allow Superstorm Sandy victims who borrowed from the Small Business Administration to fund the rebuilding to their homes and businesses to repay those loans with the proceeds of grants from the federal department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Equity for Disaster Victims Act, co-sponsored by Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez (D-NY),  would correct a con perpetrated by the government on Sandy victims in the aftermath of the strom and reform the federal government’s disaster relief programs to ensure fairness and flexibility.

Brent Sonnek-Schmelz, the GOP candidate challenging Congressman Frank Pallone in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District (Middlesex and Monmouth Counties), criticized the Republican National Committee for falling to soften its stand against gay marriage.

“Let me be blunt, the Republican National Convention’s Platform Committee did a terrible disservice to the Republican Party, by failing to recognize a clearly selfevident diversity of opinion within our ranks on the issue of same-sex marriage,” said Sonnek-Schmelz, pointing to a failed amendment offered by openly gay Washington, DC Delegate Rachel Hoff. “How can we expect men and women who share our beliefs on lower taxes, balanced budgets, school choice and a strong national defense to stand with the Republican Party, when the Party won’t stand with them when it comes to something so basic as the ability to marry someone you love? We can and must do better. I am eager to be part of a new generation of Republicans with the courage to continue changing hearts and minds on this issue by making my voice heard.”

Monmouth County links in Hillary’s emails

cartoonWikileaks released 1258 of Hillary Clinton’s emails yesterday. The website obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Request on February 29, 2016.

There are several Monmouth County connections in the emails released.

Congressman Chris Smith was mentioned in 87 of Clinton’s emails on subjects ranging from Sean Goldman being reunited with his father David of Tinton Falls after being abducted to Brazil by his mother, to the congressman’s opposition to tax payer funded abortions and Planned Parenthood funding.  Emails that mentioned Smith revealed that the Secretary and other State Department officials were busy lobbying members of congress to pass the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) in late 2009 through its final passage in March in 2010.

Phony Pallone’s Phony Sit-in: A typical day of inaction

By Art Gallagher

Congressman Frank Pallone said last week that sitting on the floor of the House of Representatives to try to force the Republican majority to force a vote on gun control legislation was his proudest moment in 28 years in Washington.

Pallone told NJ.com’s Auditor that he is holding a “symbolic sit-in” in his New Brunswick Office today, as a “national day of action” with his fellow Democrat Congress  Members, where his constituents could sit on the floor and discuss gun control legislation with him.
