Happy November! It’s hard to believe we’re just a few weeks away from celebrating the holidays. It’s agreat time of the year and, as always, there is so much going on and so much to do in Monmouth County.

I’d like to start by thanking all of the veterans, past and present, who have served our country. We should continue to recognize their sacrifices throughout the entire year. It is because of their sacrifices we continue to enjoy our freedoms. Let us also not forget the sacrifices made by their families!

To honor our veterans, I spent the day on Monday with Sheriff Shaun Golden at numerous ceremonies throughout Monmouth County. First we joined my fellow Freeholder Sue Kiley and the Manasquan VFW Post 1838 for a brief ceremony before they headed to the NYC Veterans Day Parade. Afterwards, we attended the Asbury Park and Bradley Beach Veterans Day Ceremonies. Thank you to all our veterans for their courage, sacrifice and service to our great country! Arnone Report: Freeholder Director Praises County Employees and other good stuff..

While I could say the last few weeks have been very busy, the truth of the matter is that the County stays busy around the year with ongoing projects and initiatives.

I would like to provide a few updates from the departments I oversee, including the County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering. I’m proud to serve as the liaison to this department and cannot praise enough the tremendous work these – and all – County employees do on a daily basis to maintain the high quality of life we enjoy in Monmouth County.

Last week, my fellow Freeholders and I held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of the Heavy Equipment Maintenance Building (HEMB) at the Public Works Complex.

Arnone Report: County Had Successful Summer Season

It’s finally starting to feel like fall and I couldn’t be happier! From pumpkin picking to festivals and everything in between, there is always something fun to do during this season in Monmouth County.

I’ve certainly kept busy over the last few weeks at several events throughout the entire County that I would like to briefly share with you.

Despite celebrating the fall season, last week I joined my fellow Freeholders at the beach in Long Branch to host our annual End-of-Summer press conference. As liaison to the Department of Public Information and Tourism, I discussed how our businesses and towns fared through the 2019 season.

Arnone Report: To remember 9/11 we must teach our children

I would like to take the time to reflect upon and recognize the 18th anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks our nation endured on September 11th, 2001. Though the years have passed, we will never forget the lives and legacies of those who lost their lives or the first responders who bravely did their jobs.

It is our duty to always remember the horrific events that took place on that day, as well as, to never forget those we lost and how that day changed our lives forever.  However, in order to never forget, our youth must be taught about 9/11 and the events that transpired that day and how it changed the course of American history forever.

The Arnone Report: Back to School, Road Improvements and a great man honored in Belmar

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend! A new school year is officially upon us and that means it is time to be extra cautious when driving around our communities!

It’s always important – and especially now that children are back in school – that everyone obeys speed limits, stops for pedestrians and avoids distractions when driving. It’s also important that pedestrians and children walking to school use crosswalks or cross at intersections and wait for the walk signal before stepping into the road.

As the school year begins, I will be sending notices to school districts once again to let them know I am always happy to meet with students of all ages to discuss civics and the role of county government. Last year I had the opportunity to meet with students in several towns throughout the county including Red Bank, Belmar, Eatontown, Long Branch, Tinton Falls and Asbury Park. Arnone Report: Freeholders’ Smart Investments Produce Big Savings

I hope everyone is having a great summer! I cannot believe we’re just a few weeks away from Labor Day!

The Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering has been extremely busy this summer working on numerous projects throughout the County. As liaison to this department, I am happy to report on the status of several of these projects.

At our August 7^th Freeholder Meeting, the Board awarded a $9.2 million contract to Hall Building Corp. to complete interior renovations to the Seaview Building, a former commercial building the County owns next to the Seaview Square Mall. This $9.2 million award is a $2.3 million savings to the County and 22% less than we anticipated.  Read the rest of this entry »

Arnone Report: Freeholder Director promotes local businesses

Happy August, Monmouth County! It’s hard to believe we are just a few, short weeks away from Labor Day! Soon children will be heading back to school and the cooler weather will be here. However, let’s forget about all of that now and just enjoy the remainder of this great summer season!

The Monmouth County Division of Economic Development has been hard at work this summer connecting with local members of the County’s agriculture industry, sharing with them information about Grown in Monmouth. Last week, we held our first-ever Grown in Monmouth Restaurant Week, which I am proud to say was a tremendous success. We had over 50 restaurants participate, who featured at least one dish that was made with ingredients that have been grown in Monmouth County.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Arnone Report: Stay Cool, Eat Local and Other Great Stuff

Hello! I hope everyone is continuing to enjoy the summertime sunshine and warm weather!

As everyone is aware, we have experienced hotter than normal weather lately. Heat wave or not, I always advise those who plan on spending time outdoors in the heat to be prepared. Heat-related illnesses are preventable.

For those who are not able to be in a cool location, visit an air-conditioned mall or library to get relief from the hot weather. For those who are out in the heat, stay hydrated! It is important to drink water before thirst kicks in! While you’re keeping hydrated, don’t forget to take care of your pets, too! Lastly, don’t forget the sunscreen! Read the rest of this entry »

Arnone Report: Celebrating Independence, Fixed Roads and Improvement at the Dump

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Fourth of July holiday! I’d like to thank all those who have served our great nation and protected our freedom. Your service and commitment is truly appreciated.

To celebrate the holiday, I participated in a few events that showcased how special small-town traditions truly are. I’d like to thank the Monmouth County Historical Association for hosting their Independence Day Celebration at the Allen House, where I had the honor of participating in the reading of the Declaration of Independence.

I was happy to spend part of the holiday walking in the annual Ocean Grove Fourth of July Parade. As always, I had a great time walking the route and seeing everyone dressed in their best patriotic clothing while holding American flags.

Arnone Report: Tourism, locally grown food, graduates, roads and other great stuff

Happy summer! I hope everyone has been enjoying the warmer weather and all the County has to offer! There are so many events and activities throughout the County that there is sure to be something for everyone.

With that being said, as the liaison to the County’s Department of Public Information and Tourism, I held a press conference in Keyport, along with my fellow Freeholders, to celebrate the start of summer in the Bayshore and to showcase all that they have to offer visitors this summer! I am proud to say that Tourism is nearly a $2.6 billion industry in Monmouth County and it was no surprise to hear that the county saw an increase in visitors last year!
