Last December, when it became obvious China faced a deadly disease of historic dimensions, Xi Jinping and his government went into damage control mode.
We are not talking about controlling the terrible damage wrought by COVID-19 among humans, but rather the damage to China’s reputation as an emerging global leader, fearing that a carefully crafted, but bogus image would be damaged as more people around the world succumbed to COVID-19.
Grupo Modelo, which produces and exports several popular Mexican beer brands, including Corona, Pacifico and Modelo, will be temporarily suspending production and sales after its breweries were deemed non-essential by the Mexican government.

John P. Maldjian, the Rumson man charged with reckless endangerment and other charges related to violating Governor Phil Murphy’s social distancing orders, has hired one of New Jersey’s top criminal defense attorneys to defend him against the disorderly persons charges filed by the Rumson Police.
Stephanie Schmid won the Monmouth County Democrats endorsement in the upcoming primary, currently scheduled for June 2, for the nomination to challenge Congressman Chris Smith in November.
She is a disease detective these days, conducting phone interviews with coronavirus patients to trace where they have traveled and who they have seen, starting three days before they felt sick.
The objective? Document the chains of infection and figure out where COVID-19 will strike next. “Find out who’s been exposed and did not know about it,” Noonan said. The data informs the state’s communicable disease registry, allowing public health officials to track the pandemic.
