Arnone Report: Tourism, locally grown food, graduates, roads and other great stuff

Happy summer! I hope everyone has been enjoying the warmer weather and all the County has to offer! There are so many events and activities throughout the County that there is sure to be something for everyone.

With that being said, as the liaison to the County’s Department of Public Information and Tourism, I held a press conference in Keyport, along with my fellow Freeholders, to celebrate the start of summer in the Bayshore and to showcase all that they have to offer visitors this summer! I am proud to say that Tourism is nearly a $2.6 billion industry in Monmouth County and it was no surprise to hear that the county saw an increase in visitors last year! Liam McAtasney Sentenced To Life Without Parole

State Police Seek Public’s Help In Locating Sex Offender

Marvin Sanders

The New Jersey State Police posted an appeal for public help in locating Marvin Sanders, 37, of Shrewsbury Township.  Sanders, who is known to hang out on Toms River and Manchester, is wanted for failure to register as a sex offender.

Sanders is a black male, 5’11”, and 195 pounds. He may also go by the name of Marven or Maurice.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Office at 609-584-5000 ext. 5288.  The State Police post on facebook had a typo in the phone number and in Sanders’ name.

Ethics Committee Dismissed Houghtaling and Downey’s Complaint Against DiMaso

The Joint Legislative Committee on Ethical Standards dismissed a complaint by Assembly Members Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey against Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso today, finding that there was no probable cause for the Democrats complaint against their Republican colleague, according to reports on NewJerseyGlobe and APP.

“While this matter never stopped me from doing my job for the people of the 13th district,  I’m glad its behind me,” DiMaso said to MMM in  phone interview.

Investors Foundation Donates $5K To Legal Aid

Mark T. Apostolou, Jr., Esq. President of the Legal Aid Society, Peter Leyman Investors Bank Vice President Professional Services, Christopher M. Curcia Investors Bank Red Bank Branch Manager, and Valerie Hemhauser, Esq. Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society

OCEAN TOWNSHIP- The Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County received a $5,000 grant from Investors Foundation to support the Society’s mission to act as a conduit between the indigent residents of Monmouth County and Pro Bono attorneys willing to accept the assignment.

This $5,000 grant was presented to Mark T. Apostolou, Jr., Esq., President of the Legal Aid Society and Valerie Hemhauser, Esq., Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society, by Peter Leyman, Investors Bank Vice President Professional Services and Christopher M. Senate Expected To Pass Bill Protecting Sandy Victims From Foreclosure Today

The New Jersey Senate is expected to pass a bill to extend mortgage forbearance for victims of Superstorm Sandy today, Senator Declan O’Scanlon told MMM this morning.   The current law that protects homeowners who continue to deal the the effects of the devastating October 2012 storm expires on July 1, as reported by the Asbury Park Press.

APP reports that hundreds of homeowners have been contacted by their banks seeking payments starting in July.

Miss Jersey 2019 is Brookdale Grad Jade Glab of Belmar

Jade Glab, 19, of Belmar was crowned Miss New Jersey 2019 on Saturday night in Atlantic City and will represent the Garden State in the Miss America 2020 competition.
