Guadagno: Legalizing prostitution would be better than legalizing pot

Former Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno photo via NJ.gov

In an interview with Bill Spadea on NJ101.5 yesterday, former Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno said legalizing prostitution would be less harmful than legalizing recreational marijuana and that doing so would benefit the women who work in the world’s oldest profession.

“Now that I’m not running for office anymore, if they need revenue that badly, let’s legalize a victimless crime and tax it up the wazoo.  What to I mean by that? Let’ legalize prostitution,” Guadagno said.

“It’s better for women cause they’ll get good medical care. We’ll cut off the middleman, if you know what I mean, and it’s between two consenting adults.”

Recreational Marijuana Legalization Passes NJ Legislative Committees

New Jersey is one step closer to legalizing recreational marijuana use after the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and the Assembly Appropriations Committee each approved the New Jersey Marijuana Legalization Act after a four hour joint hearing on the bill.

The Senate Committee passed the bill 7-4, with two abstentions.

Monmouth County’s senators on the committee came down on different sides as Senator Vin Gopal (D-ll) voted in favor of the bill and Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-13) voted against.

Jon Bramnick’s Political Playbook

“Our message in New Jersey as Republicans has always been one of fiscal responsibility and civility,” said Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick (R-21) in an interview with WNYC radio. “I want people to know that as a Republican in this state, I want to respect people and bring people together. And, if that message is not coming from Washington, it is going to come from me.”

Bramnick, like Kevin Bacon in Animal House, is preparing to take another beating and to politely ask for more.

Released From Middlesex County “Sanctuary,” Illegal Alien Kills Three in Missouri

The Middlesex County Department of Corrections released Luis Rodrigo Perez from custody last February, in defiance of an Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) detainer issued by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in December.

Luis Rodrigo Perez, got a gun from Sabrina Starr, right, used it to kill his former roommates and then Starr the following day, according to Missouri authorities.  photo via Starr’s facebook page

Perez, 23, shot and killed three people in Springfield, Missouri last week, according to Missouri law enforcement authorities.

“Yet again, an ICE detainer was ignored and a dangerous criminal alien was released to the streets and is now charged with killing three people,” said ICE Acting Executive Associate Director Corey Price. “Had ICE’s detainer request in December 2017 been honored by Middlesex County Jail, Luis Rodrigo Perez would have been placed in deportation proceedings and likely sent home to his country – and three innocent people might be alive today. It is past time that localities realize the perils of dangerous sanctuary policies and resume their primary goal of protecting their residents.”

Perez was being held in the Middlesex County Jain on domestic violence charges.  Unnamed Middlesex County officials are quoted by NJ.com  blaming ICE for Perez’s release, explaining that their policy is not to hold illegals who haven’t killed or maimed anyone yet.

Will Vote By Mail Ballots Be Counted Tonight?

MMM is hearing that there is a movement within at least three county Boards of Elections to stop counting Vote-By-Mail ballots that are in house at 10 pm tonight, rather than complete the count on election day, as is required by statute.

A Court Order is required to stop the count of VBM ballots, according to Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giodano Hanlon.

The Evans Family Rallies For Congressman Chris Smith

Ashley Evans, a 17 year old Howell  resident, has been  fighting back against the lies being told by Josh Welle in his ads against Congressman Chris Smith since she came across one on YouTube a few weeks ago.

Smith rescued Ashley and her sister Sophia from the Republic of Georgia during the Russian invasion of the county in 2008.

Ashley and her parents, Joseph and Teah have seen telling their story and rallying support for Congressman Smith since they saw Welle’s deceitful attacks.

Prompted by Joe’s comment on MMM on Friday, I caught up with Ashley and Teah during a Karate competition in Jackson on Saturday afternoon.   See their videos below:
