Governor Phil Murphy announced on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning that he will sign an Executive Order today requiring that masks be worn outdoors in New Jersey, “if you can’t socially distance.”

Freehold Raceway Mall Receives Two Bomb Threats in Three Days

The Freehold Raceway Mall was subject to two bomb threats over the holiday weekend, according to a News12 report.

On Sunday, the Marlboro Police Department transferred a caller claiming there was a bomb in the mall to Freehold. The Freehold PD and Monmouth County Sheriff’s Officers, including K-9 units responded.

On Friday, another threat was received from a caller who sounded like a child, the report said.

After being closed since March due to the COVID-19 shutdown, most stores in the mall reopened on June 29.

A Jersey Mike’s tribute to Black Lives Matter went viral. But it’s fake.

Popular New Jersey-based sub shop Jersey Mike’s found itself going viral on Twitter this week. And it didn’t even write the tweet that was trending.

Comedian Yassir Lester tweeted what appeared to be a statement from Jersey Mike’s on June 30 that claimed the company would be changing the name of its bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich to a bacon, lettuce and ‘mato sandwich — a BLM, an apparent tribute to Black Lives Matter.

Donovan’s Reef To Cease Live Music

Donovan’s Reef, the popular beach side bar in Sea Bright, announced today that they are pausing live music at their venue and further limiting the number of customers they admit.

“Effective immediately, we are pausing live music at our venue and further limiting our occupancy, said owner Christine Carducci. “We will also continue to mandate masks in indoor areas, and strongly encourage customers to wear masks on the beach. “

NOAA examining wounds on endangered whale found dead off Long Branch coast

Crews said they were still working Friday to find out how the critically endangered whale that was discovered off the coast of Monmouth County Thursday died.

The whale’s carcass was spotted floating in the ocean near Monmouth Beach at 12:15 p.m. Friday after first being seen a few miles south in the water off of Long Branch, according to a statement from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Endangered whale, 1 of only 400 left in world, found dead off Long Branch

An endangered species of whale, one of only 400 left in the world, was found dead Thursday morning off the coast of Long Branch, officials said.

The whale was spotted floating in the ocean in the Elberon section of the city and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was able to confirm that it was a North Atlantic Right Whale after photos were sent to the organization.New Jersey’s Marine Mammal Stranding Center was working Thursday with NOAA to find a spot where a necropsy can be performed to find out how the mammal died, authorities said.The discovery was the first confirme… Read the rest of this entry »
