Marletta Gets Seven Years For Hit and Run Death

Freehold- Toni Ann Marletta, the 51 year old Leonarado woman who admitted to the hit and run death of Marissa Procopio, 15, of Atlantic Highlands, was sentenced to seven years in State Prison today by Judge Ronald Reisner in Monmouth County Superior Court.  The seven year sentence for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident that resulted in a death runs concurrent to her four year sentence for Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.

Marletta was taken into custody at the conclusion of her sentencing hearing.

Congressman Smith Announces Congressional App Challenge Winners

photo-76-630x472Four Monmouth County high school students enrolled in Communications High School in Wall Township were named the winners of the Congressional App Challenge from New Jersey’s 4th District, Congressman Chris Smith announced on Wednesday.

“The App Challenge encourages school students to become active in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields, computer science and programming by creating and exhibiting their software applications,” said Smith. “This challenge is an important step to inspire creativity, career skills and teamwork, which can help participating students to be poised for high-tech jobs of the future.”

Neptune Woman Charged With Murdering Her Boyfriend

police_car-300x142Monique Moore, 24, of Neptune was charged on Monday with 1st degree Murder in the stabbing death of Joseph A. Wilson, 29, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

Neptune Township Police responded to 911 calls reporting a stabbing at 1130 Heck Ave, Building 1 on Sunday night at 11:02.  Upon arriving on the scene at 11:06 officers located the gravely injured Wilson outside of the building. Police and Neptune EMS personnel administered live-saving efforts and transported Wilson to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. on Monday.
