Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden brought college and high school students from throughout the County to Freehold on Tuesday for the second annual Student Ambassadors For Heroin Use Prevention forum.
The unique program that Golden launched last October brings student leaders together with educators, law enforcement officials and other government and non-profit drug abuse agencies to share information–both ways–to empower the students to lead their peers away from heroin use and to support the adults in improving their drug abuse prevention efforts.

Former Monmouth Democrat Chairman Vin Gopal blamed Senator Jennifer Beck for air pollution on his facebook page earlier this week. With New Jersey lawmakers busy in Trenton working on the next fiscal year’s State Budget, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden is calling on the legislature and Governor Christie to stop the diversion of $120 million per year that cell phone users pay for the express purpose of maintaining and upgrading 911 emergency infrastructure throughout the state.
Golden first raised the issue last summer, days after the current fiscal year budget took effect. Yesterday, the Sheriff highlighted the issue in an interview with NJTV’s Brenda Flanagan.

Al Salazar, 93 of Wall Township, was 20 years old when he served under both General Omar Bradley and Lt. General George Patton in World War II. He landed in Europe 73 years ago last week.

Todd Fulton, 43, a certified nursing assistant from Hazlet, has been charged with sexually assaulting a female patient who was in his care at the then Monmouth County owned Geraldine Thompson Care Center in Wall Township in 2015, according to an announcement by Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
A Monmouth County Grand Jury indicted Fulton on Friday for first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, one count of second degree Sexual Assault and one count of second degree Official Misconduct. The defendant has been incarcerated without bail at the Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold since February 16, 2017.
