Schlossbach Withdraws From LD 11 Assembly Race

Marilyn Schlossbach is withdrawing as a candidate for Assembly in the 11th legislative district.

“It is with great regret that I must withdraw my candidacy for Assembly. My efforts at this time must be focused on the health of my business, and protecting the jobs it has created,” said Schlossbach in a statement issued by 11th district Democratic campaign.

Campaign Manager Vlad Gutman told MMM, “the hurricane hit Marilyn’s businesses hard. She has determined that she must focus on their recovery and that it is not appropriate for her to be a candidate at this time.”

The Democrats biggest challenge in replacing her may be getting a quorum of 11th district county committee members to attend nominating convention.

Gutman was confident that a new candidate would be nominated but declined to name any publicly.

Red Bank Councilman Michael Dupont, also a member of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, said that he would not be a candidate,  “No, not at this time.  I have a young family, a 15 year old and twins that will be five in December.”

Dan Jacobson, a former Democratic member of the Assembly now running as an Independent, said that he would not accept the Democratic nomination.

“With all due respect to my friends in the Democratic party, no,” said Jacobson

At least there’s still one way to vote Caroline Casagrande out of office!

    Vlad? Really?

I can tell you this, and it comes via inside information. Schlossbach’s businesses aren’t hurting because of the hurricane. They are hurting because she is a lousy restaurant owner who over expanded during bad economic times. She can barely pay her bills and is robbing Peter to pay Paul.

But then, what did you expect from a Democrat. They all know how to over extend their finances, and thus transfer that inability to manage money to our State & Federal finances.

    Oh, and Disappointment…

Why would you want to vote one of the better Assemblywoman out of office?

Art Freespeaker is guilty of libel. You should ditch his comment.

  5. Freespeaker1976 said at 9:43 am on September 8th, 2011:

    Justified,

    a) Schollsbach is a public person, one who ran for office and thus the rules are different for libel. Her affairs are open to public scrutiny.

    b) The accusations are true, just ask her suppliers

    c) And YOU above all, throwing around accusations of libel. Some of your claims are so far out of bounds.

    Freespeaker,

Marilyn has been a successful restaurant owner at the shore for 30 years. Do you have a track record in business better than hers?

We will never know, because Art lets people criticize others and hide behind a moniker, never allowing themselves the same scrutiny, real or unreal, that they give to others.

Perhaps you haven’t kept up with the news the past 3 years, but people are struggling. To judge poorly anyone who is struggling in business while the entire world economy lags is a rather unfair criticism, wouldn’t you say?

Are you out there in the business community creating jobs like Marilyn? Marilyn has many restaurants and employs many people.

I’m certain I don’t share her politics, but I have no need for peronal criticism, particularly when it makes no sense like yours.

I think your point was to say she is a bad businesswoman. You couldn’t me more wrong about that.

  7. freespeaker1976 said at 12:13 pm on September 8th, 2011:

As I said Justified, it is EXTREMELY inside information. Now, I am not going to stand here and be subject to you attacking me just because you don’t like the news.

  8. Bob English said at 12:20 pm on September 8th, 2011:

The decent thing to do here is to just wish Ms. Schlossbach good luck in getting her business back to normal and to respect her decision. Maybe she will run again for office in the future.

  9. Ralph said at 12:29 am on September 9th, 2011:

Tommy – thanks for defending Marilyn.

Freespeaker – you are an idiot, probably unemployed leaving with your mother. Marilyn has more talent in her left thumb than you do. She employs over 250 people and has 7 restaurants, a surf shop, a successful catering businesses and like ANY business in the country is having a tough time due to the economy.

Your an idiot you have no inside information.

  10. Freespeaker1976 said at 7:55 am on September 9th, 2011:

    Ralph,

Calling people idiots and making personal insults does not offset the truth that I do INDEED have inside information about her perilous financial condition and that at least one of her restaurants is on the ropes, maybe two.

Yes, the economy is killing people, but she is over extended and does not believe she has to take action to save her “empire” by scaling things back.

You can equate that to the current Democrat Regime in that they don’t realize the situation we are in, we are over extended and that they don’t know when to cut back.

PERIOD. As I said, you guys want to throw personal insults, that is on YOUR image.

    NOW, ENOUGH SAID…
