Poop Baby Poop
By Art Gallagher
“Poop Baby Poop” could replace “Drill Baby Drill” as the mantra for energy independence advocates if a Houston, Texas company is successful converting 60,000 tons of Camden County sludge into a product that replaces coal as a fuel source.
Synagro Technologies Inc was awarded a $28 million grant along with the Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority from the Department of Community Affairs to begin turning the poop into power, according to NJSpotlight.
Robert Montenegro, Synagro’s Camden project manager, says poop burns cleaner that coal. The poop is dried and converted to renewable fuel to create energy and power manufacturing operations. The 60,000 tons of poop will replace 6,000 tons of coal and reduce carbon emissions by 17,000 tons. I don’t understand that math. I guess I don’t know shit.
Art , I have a article on Corzine you might find interesting …want me to post it here or e-mail it to ya ?
Hmmmm … it is a renewable resource, but I wouldn’t call it “green”!
Baltimore is using their waste water treatment facilities to grow algae for bio diesel fuel.
First grow algae, then burn the sludge, a “twofer”.
I wonder if they get any government subsidies.
I should have read the article more closely rather then skim it. I see there is a grant. Government should not give out grants to private companies. I don’t blame the business. If I had a business and could get free money I would take it.
However government should let the free market determine if this is a good way to make energy.
of the liberal mentality doing everything it can but the most simple and obvious, to force their views and mentality on everyone else: we have,in these blessed United States, more than a century’s worth of natural gas and oil that, if we ever let free enterprise and industry loose from the shackles of taxes and over-regulation and gov’t. control, could be found, harnessed and delivered at great convenience and savings to all consumers, while the yet- unproven and expensive energy alternatives get developed..am so sick of the round and round of PC and nonsense at our ever-accelerating expense, while the bellyaching about “our dependence on foreign oil” yammers endlessly on!..
Lol! Loved this, but have to admit it’s a long way off from being a reality. Seriously, it’s kinda’ out there & in no way ready for prime time. Not sure why it’s given grant credibility at this stage.
Perhaps they are using the methane gas from the waste processes to be the fuel source.
if you don’t use what you already have and know, and amplify that knowledge and production, as future technologies emerge, and are tried and perfected by FREE enterprise, we deserve to be the 3rd rate nation these loons are working hard every day to help us become!.. may they of that persuasion rot in hell for what they are doing every day to ruin us, but, unfortunately, for the rest of our lives and more, that of our kids, it’s not soon enough!!
