Onuoha is Pallone’s likely opponent in CD-6

Christian Onuoha, 27, of Sayreville, appears to be the winner of the write-in race to be the Republican nominee for the House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District.

Onuoha defeated Sammy Ginhi of West Long Branch at the Middlesex and Monmouth Republican nominating conventions. Neither candidate filed sufficient signatures on their nominating petitions with the NJ Secretary of State which resulted in no Republican candidate appearing on the primary ballot.

Onuoha leads Ginhi in the Monmouth County portion of the district, 254-88, as of July 25 at 3:55 pm. The Monmouth GOP sent a postcard to known Republican primary voters encouraging them to write-in Onuoha.

In Middlesex County, Onuoha received 111 votes to Gindi’s 11, according to New Jersey Globe. Incumbent Democrat Congressman Frank Pallone outpaced Gindi in the Middlesex Republican write-in contest with 17 votes, NJGlobe reports.

Pallone had $2,943,332.18 in his campaign account as of June 30.

Onuoha has yet to register as a candidate with the Federal Election Commission or with the Clerk of the House of Representatives.
