Schoolhouse Road, Neptune and Wall, will close December 1
Schoolhouse Road, which extends from State Route 33 (Corlies Ave) in Neptune Township and Belmar Boulevard in Wall Township, will be open only to local traffic from December 1, 2017 through the end of June, 2018 while Monmouth County replaces the bridge which spans the Shark River.
“Due to the significant deterioration of the bridge and the roadway alignment, the bridge must be replaced with a wider, longer structure,” said Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the Department of Public Works and Engineering. “The goal is to improve the overall safety of the traveling public in the area.”
“Motorists should expect travel delays in the area throughout the bridge reconstruction project,” said Arnone. “We appreciate everyone’s patience during the duration of this necessary project.”
The works is being performed by Lucas Brothers, Inc. The estimated cost of construction is $2,054,054.
Monmouth County maintains of approximately 1,000 lane miles of roads, 980 bridges and culverts and 250 traffic signals and beacons.
