Singer Endorses Flancbaum In LD 30 Assembly Race

Senator Robert Singer answered Assemblyman Sean Kean’s endorsement of former Wall Township Mayor Ned Thomson to replace Dave Rible in the State Assembly and on the ballot in November with an endorsement of Justin Flancbaum, the Executive Director of the Lakewood Municipal Utility Authority.
Singer told MMM that his endorsement of Flancbaum was prompted by Kean’s nod to Thomson. “I intended to stay out of the race,” Singer said in a phone interview, “but when Sean jumped in, I had to defend my county.”
Singer is a former mayor of Lakewood.
In his letter dated today to the 30th district county committee members, Singer noted Flancbaum’s youth and energy, as well as his successful service in the public and private sector.
“Justin Flancbaum is eager, willing and excited to put his years of public and private service to work for the residents of the 30th District. I believe his youth and energy are needed as our team continues to fight for the needs of District 30 residents,” Singer wrote.
The 30th district is comprised of Lakewood and Point Pleasant in Ocean County and Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Brielle, Farmingdale, Howell, Lake Como, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, and Wall in Monmouth County.
The GOP County Committee members will select Rible’s replacement at a convention the IBEW Local #400 union hall in Wall Township on Monday evening, August 14th.

Shouldn’t state legislators do what’s best for the DISTRICT, rather than think in terms of “defending their county”? Think there’s a big problem with redistricting, when instead of having a number of similar sized towns having equal weight in a district, another town is moved into that district that alone has almost as many residents as the other towns all put together.
but in this case, it would have been good if the fine senator and chair/ organization down there, had actually told the young man to at least send his resume and letter to only those county committeepeople in his own district’s towns. The rest simply can’t vote for him- waste of postage and paper …pay more attention, folks..
