Arnone Endorses O’Scanlon in LD 13 Senate Race
Freeholder Tom Arnone has endorsed Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon to replace Senator Joe Kyrillos in the upper house of the legislature next year.
“I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Assemblyman O’Scanlon with our shared goal to maintain the high quality of life our residents deserve.” Arnone said. “Serving as the Assembly Republican Budget Officer since 2012, he has consistently made fiscally responsible decisions on behalf of our constituents. Assemblyman O’Scanlon will serve as a tremendous asset and voice for Monmouth County against the special interest groups in Trenton, and I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure our municipalities are being fairly represented. As such, I am proud to endorse Assemblyman O’Scanlon in his bid to replace Senator Kyrillos. He will certainly have big shoes to fill, but I am confident he will serve us well.”
“Tom Arnone’s public life has been defined by leadership,” O’Scanlon said. “As a mayor and a leader of the Freeholder Board, Arnone has distinguished himself as one of the most highly respected public officials in New Jersey. I am honored and proud to have earned his endorsement. Together we will lead the fight to keep the 13th district and all of Monmouth County the extraordinary place that it is, and to restore fiscal sanity to the rest of New Jersey.”
Arnone’s endorsement follows that of Monmouth County GOP Vice Chairman Tony Fiore of Middletown, the largest town in the district, and is an indication that O’Scanlon has earned the support of the County’s senior Republican leadership leading up to the GOP nominating convention on March 18.
O’Scanlon filed his Letter of Intent to seek the endorsement of Monmouth Republican County Committee for the LD 13 Senate seat this morning with three times the necessary signatures from County County members.
“With the submission of my Letter of Intent for Senate I’m formally committing to the end of my career in the New Jersey General Assembly,” O’Scanlon said. “During my time in the Assembly I’ve developed some the best professional and political relationships, as well as genuine friendships of my life. I’ve made it clear to Leader Bramnick and Conference Leader Rible that I intend to continue to work with my friends when I move to the Senate.
“My friend, Senator Joe Kyrillos, can never truly be replaced. That being said, I stand ready to represent the the people of the 13th District in the Senate”
