Highlands Man Surprised To Find Himself In Christie For President Ad

Governor Chris Christie released the first ad of his fledgling presidential campaign today.  The thirty second spot is aimed at New Hampshire primary voters and will air on Boston, MA and Manchester, NH television and cable outlets, according to a report on NJ.com.  Christie’s campaign will spend $500,000 to distribute the ad over the next four weeks, according to the report.

Cervantes appears 5 seconds into the ad and is the first face featured after Christie’s.  He had no idea he was in the ad when contacted by MoreMonmouthMusings.

“I endorsed Christie for his reelection as governor,” Cervantes said, “I did a commercial for him and was part of his Hispanic outreach, but I have not heard from his presidential campaign. Should I sue them?” he asked jokingly.

Cervantes said he has not made a decision on who to support for president in 2016. “I was just talking to my daughter about this.  I know the candidates are Bush, Hillary, Trump and some others, but I really haven’t focused on it yet.”

After viewing the commercial, Cervantes said he liked it. “It’s catchy and he sounds convincing, but you never know.  I like that my picture appears with the word ‘Leadership,’ though I don’t know that I represent that.  I feel funny because it is political. I always say I am not into politics yet somehow I always get caught up in that tornado.”

Cervantes embraced the political tornado last week when he declared July 5th to be “Cinco de Donald, a MexiCan Celebration” at his two Mexican restaurants in response to Donald Trump’s comments about Mexican immigrants.

A call for comment to the Christie for President campaign was answered by voice mail. The campaign has yet to respond to an email about the commercial and Cervantes’ appearance in it.

    He is using this man, just as he is using the taxpayers of this state to pay for his state police protection while he abandons his duties as governor. How many days is he out of state now??? How much so far is he racking up on the state police protection???

    Christie has to go, and the coward Republican legislators of Monmouth County have–who have not said nothing about the taxpayer abuses of Christie–have to go also.

    I will remember in November!!

    Typical Christie — USING someone else to further his ambitions. Looks like Christie is looking to capture to local Hispanic vote without asking the non-public person he is using to promote his political ambitions for permission to use his likeness and reputation to support and promote his political campaign. Mr. Cervantes should ask to have his person removed from the add, or come out and publicly support Christie for president.
