Gun Toting Drug Dealers Out On Bail

Two Neptune Township men arrested last week after a month-long investigation revealed they were in possession of 600 decks of heroin ready for sale and three guns; a AR-15 assault rifle, a defaced 9mm handgun and a .40-caliber handgun have been released after posting bail, according to a statement by Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Kahil Aziz, 25, already a convicted felon, was released after posting $235,000 bail as set by Neptune Township Municipal Court Judge Robin Wernik. Joel Jones, 30, was released after posting $200,000 bail as set by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Honora O’Brien Kilgallen.  No 10% bail option was available to either defendant.

Investigators of the Prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force and the Neptune Township Police Department executed a search warrant at 7 Ash Drive, in the township, on April 28, 2015, where in addition to the packaged for sale heroin and guns, they found 20 grams of cocaine, marijuana, Xanax and oxycodone pills.

The Ash Drive home is owned by Jones, according to Data Universe.

Aziz and Jones are charged with third degree Possession of Heroin, third degree Possession of Heroin with the Intent to Distribute, third degree Possession of Cocaine, second degree Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute in an amount over a half ounce, third degree Possession of Oxycodone, third degree Possession of Xanax, second degree Possession of a Weapon While Committing Narcotics Offenses, fourth degree Possession of a Defaced Firearm and fourth degree Possession of Hollow Point Bullets. Both men are also charged with the disorderly persons offenses of Possession of Marijuana in an amount under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Aziz is additionally charged with second degree Possession of a Weapon by a Certain Person (convicted felon).

The defendants face a sentence of up to 10 years in New Jersey state prison on each second degree crime. The defendants also face a potential sentence of 5 years in prison on each third degree crime and up to 6 months incarceration on each disorderly persons offense.
