Middletown Stands With Law Enforcement
Township Committee Calls For Residents to Light Their Homes Blue
In response to the execution style murders of NYPD Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, the Middletown Township Committee has order that Town Hall be lit blue starting tonight through January 1st, 2015.
The Township Committee issued the following statement this morning:
Middletown Township mourns the loss of NYPD officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos who were senselessly murdered on Saturday, December 20th. The governing body of Middletown Township stands behind the men and women of the Middletown Police Department who tirelessly and selflessly protect and serve our community. Tonight we have ordered our Town Hall to be lit in blue to show our support for the entire law enforcement community. While it is sad that the negative rhetoric portrayed by certain community activists and politicians seems to have bolstered these and other acts against law enforcement, we hope for solidarity and ask that all residents of Middletown and beyond join us in a show of support for police officers and law enforcement officials everywhere by lighting their homes with a blue light now until January 1st.
A MMM survey of Middletown area hardware stores discovered that blue tinted light bulbs are in stock and available at Jaspan Brothers Hardware on 1st Ave in Atlantic Highlands and Lowes on Rt 35 in Holmdel. Fair Haven Hardware said they sold out over the weekend.
What an absolutely brilliant idea!
We know the Freeholders read this blog so how ’bout we make this a county-wide effort.
Better yet, maybe the APP will get behind this and the word will spread state-wide – even nationwide.

Stay True …Go BLUE!
Great job Middletown!
