Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal casino to close by Dec. 12, owners say
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The owners of Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City said in a court filing that they expect to close the boardwalk property on or before Dec. 12. The company had been warning for months that the struggling casino might close this fall if it didn’t get significant relief from its biggest…
what the hell happens/ happened to the revenue the casinos generate to this state? Also, does anyone know if,in fact, casino money still funds that PAAD prescription program for low- income seniors? And, if it does, with 5 less casinos pumping dollars into that program, do we now get to make up for that loss, as well? Gosh, maybe they’d better expand our new gas tax several cents,to cover that “shortfall,” as well! The answer, my friends, is that there are simply too many things we are expected/ mandated to pay for, in this state! We are broke. There is not enough accountability and transparency and oversight, to determine WHICH ones are really worth our continuing, unending, “investments!” They keep adding more people to each one, and they never re-align, cut, or cancel the ones which don’t WORK! It comes down to supply and demand, and us paying in, but too many taking out! It is just tragic, to me, how poorly NJ is run. That is why the escape-out versus the influx-in, is among the top in the country!
NJ pols where asleep for three decades now while other states expanded their casino gambling right on NJ boarders. People in northern NJ, NYC area, western NJ and in southwestern NJ for the most part are going to the most convenient/nearby location to spend their gambling $$$. To make matters worse, states like NY put their casinos at their horse tracks and use a small portion of the gambling revenues to supplement horse purses which in turn is killing the horse racing industry in NJ.
So in a nutshell, NJ pols have managed to nearly ruin the states gambling/casino industry and have put the states horse racing industry at a major disadvantage versus NY and other states…..Great Job!!!
No surprise with yo-yo’s like Byrne, Florio, Whitman, McGreevey and Corzine running the farce. New Jersey voters certainly got what they deserved.
