Assemblywoman Amy Handlin named to Bridgegate Investigation Committee
Assemblywoman Amy Handlin (R-Middletown) has been named to the Special Assembly Committee that will investigate the September lane closures on the George Washington Bridge that have dominated the state and national news for the last week since The Record published emails that revealed that Governor Chris Christie’s then Deputy Chief of Staff, Bridget Ann Kelly, ordered the lane closures with an email to Port Authority’s then Director of Interstate Capital Projects, David Wildstein.
During her public service career as an Assemblywoman, Monmouth County Freeholder and Committeewoman in Middletown, Handlin has earned a reputation as a ethics hawk and outspoken critic of governmental excesses.
Handlin is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Monmouth University and the author of Crony Capitalists in our Backyards: Who they are, What the do and How to fight back.
Joining Handlin on the twelve member committee are eight Democrats; Chairman John Wisniewski, the Assembly Transportation Committee Chair who has spearheaded the Bridgegate to date, Marlene Caride (Bergen/Passiac), Lou Greenwald (Mercer), Gordon Johnson (Bergen), Paul Moriarty (Gloucester), Linda Stender (Union) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (Mercer).
The other Republicans on the committee are Michael Patrick Carroll (Morris), BettyLou DeCroce (Morris), and Holly Schepisi (Bergen).
First time I am hearing that Amy is an “ethics hawk.” I don’t recalling hearing a peep from Amy during Operation Bid Rig, when Amy was a Freeholder.
Perhaps I am wrong–but I still can’t recall.
Most over rated elected official ever.
at judging everybody else, and making more rules for everyone else to follow.. Without going into much old history, sadly, a very selfish politician who takes all the help, but then, doesn’t care for the germs of kissing and shaking hands with the masses. She’ll be a great addition to the Dems witch hunt, and nailing the guy to a political cross,( excuse the New Testament reference,) – it’s how it goes..
Can someone go all reddit like and explain it like I’m 5 …. why do BOTH the assembly and the senate have their own investigation, and the US attorney does its own investigation too? Is it because of some state law, the state constitution, us constitution? And if the us attorney finds a criminal offense, I assume they can prosecute, but what could the legislature legally do, impeach?
And I suspect it’s all just a way to funnel national money against Christie and delay or block more appointments, but how much money do tax payers pay into these types of investigations, and is any of that money ever recovered from some monetary penalty against a non taxpayer funded entity or individual?
amy is one of the few members of the assembly that i trust, she takes her ethic’s very seriously. she helped in marlboro with an ethics issue and is still fighting to have it resolved in a timely manner. she has my vote and will do a good job.
I’m assuming she is assisting you in a case against Democrats. Her record against Republicans is not too good. Oh yeah, she wanted the name of Larrison Hall removed from a building at Brookdale Community College. The name of the man she voted for several times to be director of the Freeholders.
The word ethical and Politian should never be used in the same sentence. There has never been nor will there ever be a Politian that is not out to help someone do something. That is the nature of the beast…
fortunately or unfortunately…
I guess depends if your buddy won the election!
