Pedestrian stuck and killed along Route 35 in Holmdel, authorities say

A 29-year-old New Jersey man was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night as he crossed Route 35 in Holmdel, officials said.

John Hebeler, of Tuckerton, was hit as he crossed a section of the four-lane highway at about 7:15 p.m., the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Hebeler wasn’t in a crosswalk or near an intersection when he was struck on the southbound side near the Holmdel Motor Inn, a prosecutor’s office spokesman said. The man had been staying at the motel, authorities said. Anyone with any information is asked to call Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Det. Ryan McAndrews at 800-533-7443 or Holmdel Police Officer Matthew Menosky at 732-946-4400.
