Middletown Police: Search for Mary Silengo continues

The missing persons investigation into the whereabouts of Mary Silengo, 62, of Shadow Lake Village is ongoing, according to a statement by Deputy Chief Paul Bailey of the Middletown Township Police Department.

A body found floating in Shadow Lake on the afternoon of October 1 has not been identified. Deputy Chief Bailey told MMM that he did not know the gender of the deceased.

Middletown Police responded to a report of a body floating in the water at Shadow Lake at about 1:30 p.m. on October 1.  Upon arrival, officers spoke with two witnesses who reported that they were fishing on the lake when they observed a body floating near the water’s edge on the south side of the lake.

Upon confirming the report, the officers arranged for the removal of the body from the water with the assistance of members of Brevent Fire Company.  Also responding the call were the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office.  The identification of the deceased is still undetermined, pending the conclusion of the Medical Examiner’s investigation.

Mary Silengo, an “at risk” person, was last seen on Tuesday, September 22 at about 11 pm at her home. She is 5’2″ tall and weighs 115 lbs. She has blonde/gray hair and blue eyes.

The Middletown Twp. Police, New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit, New Jersey State Police Search and Rescue Unit, as well as volunteers with the Search and Rescue Council of New Jersey, Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, and the Middletown Twp. Fire Department conducted a large scale search for Silengo.

Despite the close proximity of the two incidents, the missing person investigation is still active and anyone with information about Ms. Silengo is asked to contact Det. Keith Hirschbein at (732) 615-2120.
