Woman found dead on Ideal Beach in Middletown is believed to have jumped off the Verrazzano Bridge

An Asian female estimated to be between 20-30 years old was discovered by a passerby on Ideal Beach in Middletown this morning.

MMM has learned that authorities believe the woman committed suicide by jumping off the Verrazzano -Narrow Bridge, the span between Staten Island and Brooklyn, on Saturday night. The body, which was clad in a cocktail dress, was discovered on the beach in Middletown on Monday morning, April 27.

Middletown Police responded to a report of a body on Ideal Beach at 6:20 a.m., according to a statement from the department.

There was no sign of trauma or other indication of criminal involvement, according to the MTPD statement.

This matter is being investigated in cooperation with the New Jersey State Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Detective First Class Daniel Sullivan at (732) 615-2120.
