Have NJ Democrats forgotten the BP Oil Spill?

April 20, 2020 marks the 10 year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history. The explosion killed 11 and the environmental impact extended beyond 57,000 square miles. The human, environmental and economic suffering in the Gulf Coast States continues to this day.

New Jersey Democrats seem to have forgotten.

Sure, whenever oil drilling is proposed off our Jersey Shore, Jersey Democrats hold press conferences on the beach and rail against big oil. But, to borrow a cliche ala Governor Phil Murphy, actions speak louder than words. New Jersey Democrats are on the verge of nominating a corporate defense attorney who defended Transocean, the owner of the Deepwater Horizon, for a seat in the House of Representatives representing much of the Jersey Shore.

Stephanie Schmid, a candidate for the Democrat nomination for Congress in the 4th New Jersey District, touts herself as a pro-environment, green new deal Democrat now. But just 6 years ago she was bragging about being a defense attorney on the BP oil spill. After denying any responsibility, her client was found guilty of criminal and civil charges and paid a $1.4 billion fine.

This is crazy!! She defended the BP oil spill and now wants to be a seen as a “friend of the environment” so she can get elected at the Jersey Shore? I spell a rotten, oil-covered dead fish. What a hypocrite.

Anyone who is concerned about another Deepwater Horizon type massive oil spill should consider voting for Biden since the Trump administration has rolled back regulations that were put in place with the hopes of preventing another massive disaster. https://www.independent.co.uk/environment/trump-deepwater-horizon-oil-industry-environment-rollbacks-a9475056.html

nice of you to be so loyal, but everyone, even the Dems, know Sleepy Uncle Joe is being used as a sadly clueless figurehead, for all the Obama gangsters to come back in and finish “transforming America” into the next Venezuela: we all know his VP Michelle or Stacy will be the President, very soon after he wins. So, anyone who thinks Joe’s a good idea is both naive and scary.

Can’t believe someone who defended an offshore drilling co that polluted the gulf is now trying to run for congress at the shore of all places! No thank you!! We don’t want oil on our beaches.

Schmid is a hypocrite. How can you defend these massive oil companies making tons of money and shield them from the consequences when they destroy our environment? What a coincidence that she’s all of a sudden “pro-environment” when she wants to be elected. How can anyone trust her??? Makes me wonder what else she’s lying about.

Nice timing Stephanie, Your prior role as a litigator for Transocean 10 years to the day after the BP oil spill lines up nicely with your decision to challenge Chris Smith in NJ’s 4th congressional district this fall.

Can anyone imagine how the left would react to a Republican running for Congress with a similar black mark on their environmental record? Yet not only will they remain quiet on the subject, they’ll actually allow her to tout herself a pro-environment Democrat. I’ll take Chris S.ith’s environmental track record any day over this phony candidate.

Always remember, for the left the ends ALWAYS justify the means!
