Live Events Coming to Atlantic Highlands Cinema

Atlantic Cinemas will soon be hosting live events–comedy acts, concerts, puppet shows and the like– in one of its five theaters on 1st Ave in Atlantic Highlands.

Owner Fred Rast has installed a stage in his 240 seat playhouse in order to enhance the entertainment offerings provided to northern Monmouth County residents.

As the entertainment industry continues to change in the digital age, Rast and his wife Mickey have gotten increasingly creative. They hosted 100 private parties last year and they make their theater available to premiere showings of local filmmaker’s work. The cinema has become a popular venue for kids birthday parties with parents providing a dvd of the movie of their choice.

Rast has been talking about hosting live events for years. The new stage is in place and a new sound system is being installed. Look for an announcement of the first live performance in the coming weeks.
