Middletown Police Arrest Naked Burglar

Jacob Gerges

Jacob Gerges, 35, of the Leonardo section of Middletown, was arrested by Township’s Police Department this morning, according to an announcement by Det. Lt. Paul Bailey , the department’s public information officer.

Gerges was naked when he was  found hiding under a deck of a Hunters Pointe home by K9s Jax and Koda, as well as Sgt Brian McGrogan and  Ptl. Stephen Greenwood.  The officers had initiated a search after responding to a to a residence on Phillips Mills Drive for a report of a burglary at 5:45 a.m.  Gerges was only naked from the waist down..he was wearing a sweater…when he fled the Phillips Mills Drive home on foot.

Gerges was charged with two counts of Burglary, two counts of Attempted Burglary, and one count each of theft, lewdness, and resisting arrest.  Gerges was lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a hearing.  Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Det. Keith Hirschbein at (732) 615-2120.

Bailey told MMM that Gerges’s sweater has been recovered but so far there is no sign of his pants.

According to a public records search, Gerges was released from prison earlier this year after serving time for a 2012 burglary conviction.  In November of 2011, the Star Ledger reported that Gerges was charged with smashing out the locked door of the Blue Swan Diner in Ocean Township.  He was in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold at the time of that arrest, being held on bail for an August 16, 2011 burglary.
