A registered sex offender from Hazlet was arrested on Friday, August 25, and charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl over multiple months and photographing her on at least one occasion, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Michael J. Gwiazdowski, 51, of 71 Bayshore Mobile Manor, faces two counts of second degree Sexual Assault, one count of fourth degree Violating Community Supervision for Life, one count of third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child by engaging in sexual conduct, one count of first degree Causing or Permitting a Child to Engage in Child Pornography, and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Gwiazdowski is in the custody of the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, pending a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday August 30 before Judge Vincent Falcetano, J.S.C.
The defendant was convicted of sexual assault on February 19, 2002, after committing sexual acts with a female minor, according to the NJ State Police Sex Offender Registry. He was classified as a Tier 2-Moderate Risk offender.
