The Jersey Report Delivers “Drudge-Style” News

“Good artists copy. Great artists steal.”

—Pablo Picasso

By Greg Kelly

I’m a news hunter—by training and temperament. I’m always in search of “quality content” on the internet. It’s not easy to find.

I’ve been a huge fan of the Drudge Report website for a long time. It’s been my go-to website for news for over 20 years now. And I’ve even passed the habit down to my children. My son and daughter both tell me they visit a lot for their news.

For a frequent e-reader like me, Drudge is the ultimate news aggregator. While that site is nearly always my kickoff point for digital news searching, it pleases me to no end to learn that I can now get the same treatment when it comes to news about New Jersey. All thanks to the Jersey Report (the URL is really spelled www.jersreport.com). It’s a timely and telling new look at our home territory.

Guadagno not such a dark horse vs. Murphy | Opinion

By Alan J. Steinberg This has been the week of the entry of Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno into New Jersey’s 2017 gubernatorial race. The conventional wisdom of the state’s political class is that Guadagno will win the Republican nomination and lose by a substantial margin in the general election to the likely Democratic nominee, former Goldman… Read the rest of this entry »

Monmouth Dems Nominate Murphy For Governor

The Monmouth County Democrats endorsed former Goldman Sachs executive Phil Murphy, of Middletown, to be the Party nominee for Governor in the June 6 Democrat Primary at their secret convention in Wall Township this afternoon, according to a facebook post by Fox News Contributor Julie Roginsky.

The endorsement traditionally gives the favored candidate superior ballot positioning within the County in the Primary election.

Murphy has been considered the runaway front runner for the nomination since Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop announced he would not seek the nomination last September.  Fulop endorsed Murphy, as did several Democrat County Chairs and Party Leaders.  Senate President Steve Sweeney announced that he would not be a candidate in early October and backed Murphy.

Junction Boutique: A Made in Monmouth Success Story in Middletown

Jeanine Riegler, left, and Chris Slater of Junction Boutique

Junction Boutique opened their doors in a small retail space in Belford’s Campbell’s Junction less than two years ago.  The cooperative effort of local artisans selling their homemade jewelry, heirlooms, clothes, candles and bath products and other art started with eight local crafters.

Two months later Chris Slater, the organizer and inspiration of the group, attended a Made in Monmouth trade show at Monmouth University, where she met other Monmouth County based small business owners/artist. They weren’t competitors, they were collaborators.  The number of businesses selling their products at the tiny store quickly grew and by the end of 2016 the 28 participants had outgrown their space.  Slater said that all but a handful of the Junction Boutique artisans were connected through Made in Monmouth and all are New Jersey based.
