Doherty Gives $50K Of His Own Money To His Freeholder Campaign
Why would someone pay $50,000 to get a job that pays $27,000 per year and promise not to take the health benefits that go with the job?
That’s what Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty did yesterday, according to the report he filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.
Actually, upon closer examination of the scribbled report, the $50K is a loan. Who will Matt hit up for cash so that his campaign can repay the loan if he wins a seat on the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders? 20 helicopter landings at Silver Lake would cover it.
If Matt was really a “public servant” wouldn’t he be reimbursing the taxpayers of Belmar the $200K in legal fees he stuck them with to fund his political ambitions?
final post- election report: and, importantly, his contributions pages- with the rather numerous/ expensive radio and tv buys, my guess is their north Jersey pals and unions will have made up for any personal loans, and again tried to literally buy their way into Monmouth, as they successfully did in D11 last year…
