Report: Samson to plead guilty to federal charges related to “Chairman’s flight”

Former Port Authority of NY/NJ and former New Jersey Attorney General David Samson will plead guilty to a federal felony related to the United Airlines route from Newark Airport to Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina, which is about 50 miles from Mr. Samson’s vacation home, according to a report by Ken Kurson for The Observer.

The route, which is alleged to have often been empty and money losing, was established while Samson was Chairman of the Port Authority and discontinued within days of Samson’s resignation in the wake of the Bridgegate scandal.  The September 2013 George Washington Bridge closure at the center of the Bridgegate matter occurred while Samson was Chairman.  As Chairman of the Port Authority, Samson oversaw United’s relationship with the authority’s airports.

According to the Observer report, sourced by an anonymous former prosecutor “with intimate knowledge of the players,” Samson is not cooperating with U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman’s Office with regard to the ongoing investigation into the Bridgegate matter.   Samson’s plea is expected within a week, according to the Observer.

I wonder who anonymous former prosecutor “with intimate knowledge of the players,” might be? Wonder if the publisher Jared Kushner (DT’s Son In Law) might know?

many of the rich and powerful get themselves into pickles: they get into unethical, unprofessional, often symbiotic relationships with those they oversee: as with “Crooked Hillary,” it is their self- important arrogance, in participating in these quid pro quo relationships, that can be more damning and dangerous, in the end.. Am sure this guy could have afforded to fly another airline, or pay for a shuttle to take him from a busier airport, to get to his vaca place.. Like Nancy Pelosi and her Cali flights and candidate Clinton being allowed to go to a campaign stump stop on Air Force 1.. I realize most folks vote their pocketbooks at election time, maybe some are hopefully beginning to worry about our national security, but, please, add up the blatant disregard people like this person and a Hillary seem to have for rules, decorum, and even appearance of impropriety, and send a message that the “ruling class” needs to follow laws and rules, just like the rest of us peons!

Anything less than six years is a travesty.

I hope the Bureau of Prisons transports him to his prison on one of those Con Air flights. I don’t care if he is 75 years-old. Shackle him and let him sit in his own shit for half the day while he waits for the government plane to bring him to his new prison. Now that would be some sweet justice the guy responsible for “The Chairman’s Flight.”
