Bennett lands in Lavallette
John O. Bennett III, the former Acting Governor, former Monmouth GOP Chairman and former Borough Administrator of Oceanport is the new Administrator of the Borough of Lavallette in Ocean County.
Bennett’s job in Oceanport ended on April 30th when he was replaced by Ray Poerio, an Edison resident who had been the Recreation Director of Scotch Plains, Union County.
Bennett announced his retirement from the Oceanport job last fall after he, and his part time work as an attorney, became an issue in the local election. After Mayor Michael Mahon was defeated by current Mayor Jay Coffey’s write-in campaign, Bennett reapplied for the Oceanport job.
The Lavellette job is part time, 25 hours per week, and pays $80,000 per year. Bennett replaces Christopher Parlow who retired on April 30. Parlow had served as both Clerk and Administrator for 19 years.
Bennett told MMM that the part time nature of his new job is a good fit so that there will be no perceived conflict with the part time legal work he does as an attorney with the Red Bank office of Dilworth Paxson.
Bennett said he had no regrets about his experience in Oceanport where he met and worked with many great people. He said Lavallette, a beach town with a very small year round population and a large summer population will present new challenges for him.
am sure that town will be a pleasant change from all the personalities and drama you’ve dealt with, of late.
