Hornikcrats Sweep in Marlboro
Democratic Mayor Jonathan Hornik has been elected to a third term in Marlboro.
With 27 of 28 districts reporting, Hornik is leading Republican Ira Goldberg with 68% of the vote, 4,739 votes to Goldberg’s 2,138.
In the Council race, Democratic incumbent Randi Marder and Michael Scalea held off Republicans John Dwyer and Sui Allex.
Scalea is the top vote getter so far in the Council race with 3820. Marder has 3772. Dwyer earned 2761 votes and Allex got 2706.
Looks like a bad night for the Chairman, Mr. Golden. He considers himself a super star but loses his best shot to take out a weakened Hornik and he may lose 2 assembly seats. A 2nd consecutive badly run campaign by the rookie Golden. Seems to most objective observers he is not ready for prime time. They may win Red Bank but not because of Golden. In Red Bank the democrats imploded and gave away the race. Losses in Marlboro, Hazlet and other places rest solely with the chairman and his team of ameatures. Too bad.
And actual numbers are scary things- when we carry the county by just 10,000 in an off- year, and lose two assembly incumbents, Atlantic Highlands, Matawan, Manalapan, and can’t get anybody on in a Spring Lake, one must question the overall planning, strategies, execution and leadership, or some lack thereof.. Yes, a few local “kerfuffles” contributed, but it appears there needs to be some re- evaluating, soul- searching, and better fundraising, if we are to not get blown away, in what will be a wild and difficult 2016. It starts tomorrow..
Hornik was never weakened. Look at the numbers. More than 2 to 1. The race for Town Council was not even close by any view.
The Marlboro Republicans haven’t learned that they need new leadership, not the same old retreads and the dethroned family hiding in the wings.
Agreed Jimmy, Mayor Hornik owns this town. This election proved no doubt. He has brought over republicans on the Council, and now is working on the BOE. He will own every dollar that has a place directly or indirectly, either for further office or for his own fiefdom. He rules, no doubt.
So what about liberty?
Mayor Hornik does a fantastic job in town that’s why we Republican’s continue to vote for him. We don’t always have to agree with him but his over all decisions for the town are on point. The Republican’s are a bunch of lossers that no one wants to associate with because of that couple hiding in the wings under their sheets. The wife didn’t learn how to delete comments from her FB page. The BOE is now owned by the Republican’s and look what has happened. Tax increase +6.45% BOE, Municipal Tax -0.36%. So who did better? I think the Democratic’s.
