Bloom Again Foundation Is Opening A New Jersey Chapter In Monmouth County
Bloom Again Foundation, a Pasadena, CA based charity that provides rapid response emergency financial assistance to working women facing medical crises, is launching a New Jersey Chapter on Wednesday, May 27 during a luncheon at the Navesink Country Club in Middletown.
Founded in 2008 by Dr. Lois Frankel, PhD, the foundation provides rapid response financial assistance for living essentials to working women living at or near the poverty level when medical challenges stretch their already limited resources.
Frankel, a corporate consultant and the author of Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office and and six other women’s empowerment books, will be the guest speaker at the luncheon. The topic of her talk will be The Disease to Please: How to Catch It and 10 Ways to Recover. A $75.00 donation includes lunch and a copy of one of Frankel’s books.
The New Jersey Chapter of Bloom Again was founded by Christine Rieger, a former teacher, guidance counselor and School Board Member in Shrewsbury Borough. The local Board of Directors is comprised of Deborah Byrne, Maureen DeFelice, Susan Dowden, Nancy Gravina, Kelly Kachinski, Margaret O’Meara, Rieger, Sharon Smallwood, Adrienne Supino, Nathalie Turner. The chapter will operated out of office space donated by Smallwood Wealth Management in Red Bank.
The purpose of the luncheon is to raise funds, introduce the organization to the community, and to identify organization that will refer women in need of assistance. Rieger said that she is in talks with LunchBreak, Mary’s Place by the Sea, Women and Family Services and InterFaith Neighbors to refer women in need.
The all volunteer 501 (c) 3 provides direct aid to economically challenged working women when a medical crisis causes them to miss work. In most cases, checks are sent directly to landlords, utility companies, etc., to help women bridge the gap to health. Bloom Again partners with community agencies to help identify working women who qualify for this important aid.
“Many women with low paying jobs have little financial cushion. A health crisis can threaten their income and possibly sink them into poverty. At Bloom Again we strive to help these women to alleviate some financial stress so that they can concentrate on getting healthy,” said Rieger.
