DiBella Takes A Pass On Challenging Pallone
Former Howell Mayor Joe DiBella issued the following statement this morning:
Over the past week I have received numerous calls and inquires related to my challenging Frank Pallone for the 6th Congressional District seat. I’d like to first thank the many people who called and encouraged me to challenge Congressman Pallone. The outpouring of support and encouragement was sincerely appreciated and I put considerable time into evaluating a run for Congress.
As I have said repeatedly, Sheriff Shawn Golden would have be an exceptional candidate to challenge Frank Pallone. Sheriff Golden is an accomplished public servant with a proven capacity to lead and a common-sense approach to government that is desperately needed in Washington, DC. I was disappointed to learn Sherri Golden opted not to run but respect and understand his decision. I would only have sought the Republican nomination in the event Sherriff Golden declined to run.
Having thought about my own potential candidacy and having discussed the issue with my wife and children, I have notified Chairman Bennett that I have decided against running for Congress and seeking the nomination at this time. While intrigued with the possibility of running for Congress and especially against the tax-and-spend liberal Frank Pallone, the timing is simply not right for my family and I at this time.
I do believe that the Republican party in Monmouth and Middlesex will come together and that the organizations will have a strong candidate to challenge and ultimately unseat Frank Pallone. Simply put, Pallone is out of touch and out of step with the people of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties. His tax-and-spend approach has contributed to a weakened economy and a growing national unemployment rate. Plus, as one of the main architects of the patient protection and affordable care act he has participated in a historic assault on the American heath care system that 4 years after its passage has left patients less protected and health insurance more unaffordable than ever.
I stand ready to work with our party in helping to defeat Frank Pallone and return responsible Republican representation to the 6th district. I hope to have an opportunity to serve in the future.
Bayshore Bulldog will have to be the one to take on Pallone.
But, in all seriousness…
While at their moment in time (not on our schedule for those in Rio Linda) I believe Golden or Dibella would make great Congressmen if they should decide to run. But again; any candidate contemplating such a run against an entrenched politician like Pallone should be preparing a year or two in advance for such a run, not thrust on the stage at a moments notice. That’s not fair to them, or their families.
Otherwise, they are facing a huge mountain to climb.
It’s not defeatism; it’s pragmatism. The money needed for such a challenge in the NY market is immense and $2-3 million is not easily raised in 6 months. Building a PAC and raising money early is the key IMHO, as well as being out there well ahead of time, speaking on the issues pertinent to a such a race.
So, I’m guessing; baring a miracle it seems to be sacrificial lamb time. Unless, of course someone is willing to have the courage to use this as a spring board to a winner take all Congressional campaign in 2016. But, it’s got to be someone willing to go all out for nearly 2 years.
IMHO

This is disappointing. Joe was a super star mayor and someone we need back in office. We need people like him versus the Pallone’s of the world. He should reconsider! Run Joe Run!!!!
and a shame, too, Joe D. could’ve made mincemeat out of Frank in debates..it’s unfortunately mostly always about money, not to mention how much tougher that district now is..no point in hoping the next re-districting will be any better- it won’t be!..
For anyone that wants to seriously challenge Pallone, the keys to the kingdom are all over his Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/RepFrankPallone
Note, that I and a few others have gone directly into “enemy territory” bringing the battle to him on the issues; challenging him with facts.
THIS is what we need our candidates to do, not nip around the edges with politically correct phrases. Abortion and 2nd amendment rights are not issues that will win the 6th CD.
Transparency and straight forwardness will, exposing the fraud that Pallone is.
Most noteworthy are two areas of hypocrisy:
1) From Pallone’s Facebook Page:
“Democracy is about voters, not donors. Proud to co-sponsor the Government #ByThePeople Act & reverse harmful impacts of #CitizensUnited”
From my page…
The reason I shared this friends is to illustrate the hypocrisy of this loon. He wants to complain about Citizens United, but we can’t fight back against this???
http://www.foxnews.com/…/big-labor-looking-for…/…#
Big Labor, ‘looking for revenge,’ expects to dump $300 million into 2014 elections
2) For all of Pallone’s proper and well deserved support of great Black American hero’s, he still won’t condemn the words of a Black NAACP leader in North Carolina, who called Senator Scott a ventriloquist dummy.
Similar to all attacks on Black Conservatives, the NAACP is only for the advancement of LIBERAL Blacks, as long as they stay on the Plantation and vote for Democrats like this fraud.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2014/01/21/naacp-leader-likens-black-gop-senator-to-ventriloquists-dummy/
Thus, continues the hypocrisy.
Now, Frank is thankfully no longer my Congressman. But those that want to challenge him NEED to be bold and go after him directly on the issues and expose the lies.

DiBella is no loss. The RINO bosses wouldn’t be promoting him and begging him to run if they thought he wouldn’t do their bidding. Anna Little is the best alternative but the RINOs have done everything they can to sabotage her chances. That’s why she won’t run this time. She’s sick and tired of being stabbed in the back by the bosses in her own county. They recruited Diane Gooch in 2010 to stop Anna Little, and despite being outspent ten to one Anna made mincemeat out of Gooch. In 2012 Monmouth RINOs recruited another loser to try and keep Anna Little out of Congress, and he lost big time. Obviously, Anna doesn’t want to go through the aggravation and grief of another primary contest. However, I believe she’ll change her mind if John Bennett and the rest of the Monmouth County bosses go to her, tell her they’re sorry for the way they disrespected her in the past, and assure her she’ll have their full support if she decides to take on Pallone. With the full support of the Tea Party and the GOP bosses, there is no way Anna Little can lose.
Wonderland’s around the corner! The only way we make any inroads into that awful district is,for some wealthy person with some success and speaking ability, as well as the ability to take him on, point out how his votes have hurt the district and country, and offer sane, positive and better solutions they can relate to, to make their lives better.. Not an easy combination to find in, like, a month and a week!

RUN LITTLE JIMMY RUN.
Meet Len Marshall…
Dibella is no loss my you know what. Him not running is a huge loss. Dibella would have been the one guy that could have taken Pallone out to the woodshed and really taken him on. The guy is a fire-ball and likely one of the best speakers in the County. He is smart and gutsy and its a shame he opted not to run. Would have been a helluva candidate. Meanwhile these Tea Baggers continue to promote extremists that cannot get elected outside of primaries. When will try learn? Lonegan, Schindler, etc. Plus, they obviously can’t read a map to look at the make up of the 6th district and they have a warped sense of reality of who can and cannot win. This is NJ and not South Carolina. These folks need to wake up. Maybe the party leaders can convince Dibella to reconsider.
If Anna Little or Rich Pezzullo won’t take on Pallone, what about Gene Hoyas? I recall he was active in the Tea Party movement when it first got started, he has lots of experience promoting candidates like Steve Lonegan and Dave Larsen, I believe he lives in the district, and recently organized and led the formation of the American Tea Party Congress. He would rip Pallone to shreds in debates. The RINOs won’t support him, but at least Frank Pallone will know he has an opponent.
An 82 vote win over Gooch on her second time out was Anna Little “making mincemeat out of Diane Gooch” who was on her first run?
If anything the win over Diane should have been over a 1000 votes to use the words mince meat.
As I said above, you ARE delusional.
Now, how many Federal races has Anna won and lost? Ah, that would be 0 for 2, which is sad to say for Anna, the definition of a loser. Not saying that’s her fault. So, you really have no credibility on this point calling the 2012 candidate a loser. It’s just another situation of the pot calling the kettle black again.
Now…
@ Tim, I will not condone the use of the word “Tea Baggers.” It is a derogatory and homophobic term. N O need for that in the conversation.
That said, many of the Tea Party ideals and concerns are indeed valid issues. It’s just that Tea Party candidates and most specifically the BSTPG needs to “know when to hold em and when to fold em.”
Fair enough?
JCG
Homophobic? What the heck are you talking about? You lost me on that one. The point is we need a legitimate candidate like Golden or Dibella if we have any shot of winning or evening having a respectable showing. The Tea Party has divided the Republicans way too often and the message does not play here. We need a strong, smart candidate to win and not someone idealist that sounds great in a primary and then gets trounced in the general. Enough with that model. Its time to win. Lets hope that a legit candidate emerges or just wait until 2016 when Pallone is up again because that is what will happen.
Gene Hoyas? Who the hell is that Bulldog? You understand how campaigns work right? You need someone who at least 2 people in the party have heard of.
Tea Bagger is a term with homophobic origins. It’s just not needed in the discussion.

Now, I am not disagreeing with you in the sense that SOME Tea Party activists (BSTPG example) have divided Republicans. Nor do I disagree with you on your comment about “some issues not playing here.”
But it is their root beliefs that I support. There is nothing wrong in my book with defending the Constitution and returning to limited Government.
Again, I go back to knowing when to hold your cards and knowing when to fold. It’s knowing how to actually groom candidates and actually a race with a winning candidate. Until then, reality rules.
Fair Enough?
Now @ @bulldog. I think you might find your answer here in the ramblings of a rabid dog.

Has the BULL puppy been unveiled?

Joe DiBella would be a HOME RUN for Congress. Saw him a Freeholder meeting and he is the real deal. Someone needs to convince that man to run for this seat. He may be one of the few that can whip Pallone. If not that, he should take on Booker!
The more I see all this the more ticked off I get. The party leaders need to recruit a legit candidate NOW. They should be able to convince Golden or Dibella to run and they MUST!
